Chapter 73 Blood and Pride
Amelia planned to buy a car after work. Having already purchased a house, it was time to get a vehicle as well.
When she arrived at the dealership, she was greeted by a young man in his early twenties. He seemed a bit reserved, but he was earnestly explaining the features of the cars to her.
A few other sales associates nearby watched coldly from the sidelines, clearly looking down on the young
man.
Amelia frowned slightly. She was just about to ask him to accompany her for a test drive when a group of young people suddenly walked in. They all looked somewhat familiar.
Leading the group was her half–brother, Alexander Summers.
Alexander had been spoiled by the family since childhood, practically a pampered young master. He was dressed in trendy clothes, with headphones hanging around his neck.
The group of men following Alexander immediately switched to mocking the young man the moment they spotted him.
“Well, if it isn’t our ‘poor top student. Working another shift today?”
They crowded around him, shoving and jeering.
“Hey, the goddess you like is interested in you. Feeling proud of yourself?”
“Didn’t you call us a bunch of failing losers last time? Think you’re better than everyone else, top student?”
Alexander had been keeping his eyes down, acting aloof and indifferent.
He was good–looking–the kind of guy who was clearly popular at school.
Just as he was about to pull out his phone to play a game, he spotted Amelia. His eyes lit up instantly.
“Amelia? Are you here to see me?”
Amelia noticed the group had already started roughing up the young man, while the older sales associates nearby seemed unfazed, as if this was nothing new.
The bullies were wealthy and influential. Perhaps their families even owned the dealership. No one dared t
intervene.
“Amelia, are you finally here to apologize to me? Hmph, I knew you wouldn’t last long.”
Alexander stuffed his game console back into his pocket and smoothed a tuft of hair sting up on his head
“This time, I’m not so easy to please. Unless you cook for me every day for two years and bring it to my school, I won’t forgive you.”
Amelia watched his approach, her expression cold, though he seemed quite pleased with himself.
The young man endured the bullying silently, clearly used to this treatment.
Finally, Amelia spoke up. “Are you bullying people at school?”

Alexander’s face darkened instantly. “Bullying? He brought it on himself. He knows I like that girl, but he still hangs around her.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a sharp slap landed across his check.
His head snapped to the side, disbelief flickering in his eyes.
This wasn’t the first time Amelia had hit him.
He covered his face, taking a moment to recover. “You hit me again?”
“Alexander Summers, you’re 19 and already in college. Don’t you feel ashamed using your status to bully others?”
The group of bullies froze. Seeing Alexander get slapped, they all gasped.
“Alexander, are you okay?”
“Who is this woman? Should we take her down?”
Alexander lost his temper.
“Yeah, so what if I’m bullying him? What’s it to you? You won’t cook for me. You disappeared for so long, and you don’t answer my calls. Are you really cutting ties with the family? You don’t want me as your brother anymore, so why should I listen to you?”
By the end, he almost sounded like he was complaining. He put on his headphones and gestured to his followers.
“What are you waiting for? Keep going. Teach him a lesson.”
Amelia saw that the young man’s face was already bruised and swollen. He glanced at her indifferently. Not only did he not ask for help, but he also remained silent.
She quickly stepped forward and pushed the bullies away.
“Enough. Stop it.”
The group, sensing something unusual about Amelia and Alexander’s relationship, immediately looked to Alexander for direction.
Alexander pressed his lips together. Despite his age, he still had a commanding presence.
“Amelia, are you really taking a stranger’s side now?”
Amelia positioned herself firmly in front of the young man, her expression even colder

“Alexander, it’s one thing to
childish games. Take away the Summers family name–what do you have left?”
His followers were clearly bad news. She couldn’t believe Alexander was hanging out with them.
Alexander’s cheeks flushed bright red. For some reason, seeing Amelia protect an outsider–someone he particularly disliked–made him feel betrayed.
He glared past Amelia, his lips trembling with anger.

After a long moment, he turned abruptly.
Finished
“Amelia, I really won’t bother with you anymore. The one you’re protecting is your real brother. I’m just a stranger. Fine. Don’t ever come back to the Summers family.”
He stormed off, and his followers, suddenly without a leader, scrambled to catch up.
Only then did Amelia turn to the young man who had remained silent throughout. Just moments ago, he had been so professional while introducing her to the cars, but now he wouldn’t even look at her.
