Chapter 66 A Bloody Mess
“You want me to go looking for Dylan? Are you trying to get me killed?” Nate asked.
Everyone knew Dylan’s reputation. Crossing him didn’t just get you run out of Solandis–you’d be lucky to see the next sunrise..
Even a fool wouldn’t take that risk.
“Those who dare, win. This project’s worth 1.50 billion dollars. Land it, and you’ll be promoted two levels. It all depends on whether you’re willing to take the risk,” Nolan said.
Greed was part of human nature.
Just before he left. Nolan added one last thing, “Dylan’s only willing to take this on because of me. Don’t worry about him losing it over those photos of Amelia. He doesn’t get worked up over stuff like that.”
That finally calmed Nate down. Right–it was just a woman. Dylan wouldn’t lose his head over a pretty face. He’d heard Dylan was going to be at Nocturne tonight. Ignoring his injuries, he rushed over immediately. The whole way there, he fantasized about his future. He’d worked his whole life for a shot like this–wasn’t this his chance?
He was so close to his goal now.
He stopped Dylan’s car at the entrance, nerves running high. But when he pulled out the photos on his phone, Dylan barely reacted. He was calm as ever.
Nate was just about to feel relieved, convinced he’d made the right move–two bodyguards rushed out and shoved him into a black car nearby.
He woke up and found the air reeked of blood.
His eyes were covered with a black cloth. His arms and legs were suspended, stretched to their limits.
A creeping, gut–deep fear took hold.
Who had kidnapped him? Was it Dylan? Impossible.
Dylan had looked completely calm when he saw the photos, not the slightest sign of anger.
“Who are you people?” Nate demanded.
As soon as he spoke, Dylan’s voice sounded.
He was seated nearby, holding a cup of tea. His tone was light, almost polite. “We just met, Mr. Cooper. Don’t you recognize me?”
Nate instantly panicked, and his face went pale.
“Mr. Hale, what are you doing? I came to warn you about Amelia. I was looking out for you. This is how you thank me?”
A sharp knife instantly sliced off three of Nate’s fingers. He screamed in agony, his whole body convulsing.

Dylan set down his cup, a trace of amusement flickering in his eyes.
“Go on. Tell me—what kind of person is she?”
Nate finally got it–Dylan was avenging Amelia.
Everything Nolan had said was a lic!
His lips turned white. He wanted to say something to calm Dylan down.
But before he could speak, he heard the sound of a gun being cocked.
Nate’s pants were soaked. Sweat poured down his face.
“Mr. Hale, I was wrong! It’s all a misunderstanding, really! Those photos were fake–I edited them myself. I never touched Amelia. It was Sophia’s idea! Nolan was in on it too. He’s just as guilty!”
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Four bullets ripped through his legs. He couldn’t even scream anymore.
The pain was so overwhelming that his body just convulsed. His voice caught in his throat.
Dylan moved slowly, deliberately, almost like a performance.
“Go on,” he said softly.
Nate couldn’t utter another word. His body shook uncontrollably. A puddle spread beneath him.
He couldn’t even beg for mercy. Only now did he realize how terrifying Dylan truly was.
Dylan rarely lost his temper, just as Nolan had said. But the calmer he was, the more frightening he became.
When all twelve bullets were fired, a spatter of blood stained Dylan’s cheek.
His long lashes trembled slightly. He reached out and slowly wiped it away.
Nate was now a lifeless, blood–soaked mess.
Dylan handed the gun to someone beside him, then calmly turned his wheelchair out of the room.
As soon as he left the room, he heard Logan’s voice. “Twelve bullets. That’s not your limit–it’s the gun’s.”
Logan stood with his arms crossed. He was dressed as boldly as ever, revealing a large expanse of skin at his
chest.

Dylan moved past him. Logan followed and muttered under his breath, “You acted too rashly yesterday. Do you know how long it took me to have all the surveillance footage deleted? Now, everyone thinks you are done for. Yet you don’t hide a thing from her. Aren’t you afraid she’ll spread the word?”
If that secret got out, it would cause chaos.
But Amelia herself had no idea that Dylan had already entrusted her with his most important secret.
Dylan pulled out a white handkerchief and wiped the blood from his fingers.

His expression was calm as he tossed the handkerchief into a trash can.
“I wonder, too–will she?”
Logan raised an eyebrow, then suddenly laughed.
Neither of them said another word.
Back in her room, Amelia felt a sudden and inexplicable chill creep down her spine.
