Chapter 200
Chapter 200
Half an hour later, Sharon emerged in an adorable set of pajamas, wearing a bunny eared headband.
Joan said, “Ms. Vance, the documents are all here.”
Sharon took the documents and skimmed through them. The branch family’s history read like a tragedy.
After the death of the patriarch, the Vance family had fallen under Roxanne’s control. The branch relatives were expelled and systematically oppressed by the main family.
Not a single member of the branch family had been admitted to Oriston Academy for years–proof of just
how ruthlessly Roxanne had suppressed them.
Outwardly, the branch family kept a low profile, seemingly insignificant enough for anyone to trample over.
But Sharon recalled the well–mannered children she had met at Oriston Academy. Elise, in particular, was far from weak. At the very least, Elise was stronger than Wayne and Karen.
This suggested the branch family wasn’t as powerless as they appeared.
Sharon yawned, anticipation for tomorrow’s meeting stirring. Suddenly, her phone buzzed with messages. Switching screens, she checked them.
Cameron: [Shari, House of Obsidian is making moves. We’ve temporarily evacuated Atlantis Hotel to lay low.]
Riley: [I heard House of Obsidian is conducting door–to–door student interviews.]
Jannie: [Shari, stay safe. Don’t get exposed. We can’t afford to lose you.]
Sharon was speechless, thinking, ‘Could they at least pretend to have faith in me?‘
As long as she didn’t make the first move, no one would ever guess Solar Flare was her.
The next day, the House of Obsidian’s home visit team set off. It was officially framed as a routine visit. And the one leading the team was Nicholas.
The student council had sent many students out for visits, but Nicholas naturally chose to visit Sharon’s house. It was the perfect excuse to see her.
When Richard heard that some people from the House of Obsidian were coming, he wasn’t the least bit surprised when he saw Nicholas walk in.
“Nicholas, what exactly does this home visit entail? Let’s get started.” Richard’s tone was cool and professional.
Nicholas glanced around the hall. “Sharon doesn’t seem to be present.”
“Why would she need to be here for a home visit?” Richard’s eyes narrowed. “Or are you using this as an excuse to see her?”
Richard’s face turned cold. He knew Nicholas wasn’t someone who could be brushed off.
Nicholas remained polite. “School policy requires both the student and family members to participate.” He played dumb, choosing humility in front of his fiancée’s brothers.
Wallace scoffed, “Shari sleeps in. You’ll be waiting a while.”
Nicholas smiled, “No rush. This is my only task today.”
Patrick, standing nearby, gave a cold look. Nicholas had no issue waiting, but Patrick and his brothers minded it. Ever since learning about Sharon’s engagement, Patrick had viewed Nicholas as an enemy, who was trying to steal his sister.

The exchange appeared civil, but beneath the surface, they resisted the urge to drive Nicholas away.
Not long after, Sharon finally came downstairs, pausing at the sight of Nicholas in the hall. She thought, ‘He’s leading the investigation Dom fie
me?‘
Masking her surprise, she greeted her brothers calmly. “Morning, Richie, Wally, Pat, May.” Only these four brothers were at home today.
Richard smiled. “Sleep well? Are you hungry? The chef made your favorites.”
“Not too hungry.” She turned to Nicholas. “What brings you here, Nicholas?”
“Just a school visit. Take your time. We can talk after you eat,” Nicholas said. His voice softened noticeably.
Nicholas‘ assistant did a double–take and thought, ‘Am I dreaming? Since when does Nicholas tolerate tardiness? And that tone is so sweet. Huh, love makes people blind.‘
