Chapter 44 They Deserve Each Other
Greasy and complacent. These two words instantly ignited the fury of several people.
“You! Even James needs to show us respect. Who do you think are?”
you
“If James is so nice to you all, I wonder how he would feel if he knew you were all fawning over his daughter behind his back. He hasn’t even stepped down from his job yet.”
“You!”
Their faces went red with anger at what Amelia said. The truth was that they were nice to Milly because she was pretty, then because of her family, and finally because of her skills.
At their age, each of them had a wife at home. But men, by nature, are often drawn to young, beautiful, and refined women like Milly. Who could muster interest in the plain women waiting at home? Naturally, their
attitude toward Milly was exception y favorable.
It was as if Amelia had ripped awa
a beautiful curtain to reveal the rot and decay underneath.
Amelia smiled, lifted her foot to head out, only to bump into Nolan, who was coming in.
Nolan’s expression was even darker. He’d overheard everything just now.
“Amelia, I thought you only made mistakes online, but I didn’t think you’d also spread rumors about Milly’s personal life in person. What did you mean when you said that? Are you saying that Milly’s relationships with these men are wrong? Why are you so mean? Milly isn’t your sister. How could you talk badly about your own family?”
Amelia was speechless. When had she ever said Milly was involved with these men? All she meant was that their attitude toward Milly was questionable.
Those are two very different things. However, Nolan was very skilled at manipulating her words.
She just opened the car door next to her and got ready to get in. She was in a hurry because she still had orders worth more than 4000 dollars to fill.
Nolan was so angry that he grabbed Amelia’s wrist. “You even blocked my number, and now you’ve followed Milly to Sienna Valley without saying anything, just to talk badly about her on your livestream?
“Do you know how bad the things people are saying about Milly online are? It’s not surprising that Alexander, who grew up with you, is on Milly’s side. He probably can’t even hold his head up outside with a sister like you!”
At the mention of Alexander, Amelia felt a sharp pain in her chest.
She’d known Alexander for so many years, but Milly had only returned to the family five years ago. Now, Alexander was so partial to Milly. How could Amelia not mind?
Amelia kept saying to herself that it didn’t matter. But people do have feelings.
She and Nolan had also known each other since childhood. Even though she’d forgotten m the occasional pang of bitterness in her heart couldn’t be denied.
In such a short time, Milly had managed to cut Amelia off from everyone else.

Amelia didn’t say anything and shook off Nolan’s hand before getting into the car
Nolan was still fuming. Amelia had never been this cold to him before. Even if she was pretending, she was overdoing it this time.
“Amelia!” Nolan wanted to follow her into the car, but just then, Milly’s voice rang out, Nolan, what brings you to Sienna Valley?”
Only then did Nolan remember why he’d come. He pointed to his car.
“I got you some dishes that Celia made. She asked me to bring it over because she was worried you wouldn’t be used to the food here. Do you want some? They’re still hot.”
Celia didn’t cook very often, but she went above and beyond for her daughter.
Milly’s eyes lit up with delight. “Really? Mom cooked?”
“She did. She’s been so worried about you these past few days, she can barely eat.”
Milly looked over at Amelia. The inside of the car was too dark to see her face, but she could tell that Amelia was probably feeling terrible.
Amelia had always wanted to make the family happy and would do anything to get a compliment.
But Celia didn’t cook for her very often. Mrs. Sally took care of everything at home. These meals, made at home, were even more special.
“Amelia, you’ve had a long day, too. Why don’t you come back and join us for dinner? I’m sure you miss Mom’s cooking as well.”
Nolan quickly stepped to Milly’s side. “Celia made this just for you. There’s none for Amelia.”
“Don’t say that, Nolan.”
Amelia didn’t respond but simply told the driver to go.
Nemi sat next to Amelia. Her head tingled because she was so mad. “Those two are perfect for each other! They’ll get what they deserve.”
Amelia closed her eyes. She didn’t want to waste any more thought on those two. Her mind was filled with matters in Greenvale.
Milly’s eyes sparkled with satisfaction as she watched Amelia run away. “Nolan, let’s eat dinner together.”
Nolan nodded, suddenly feeling a bit better. He hadn’t seen Amelia’s face just now, but she must have been hurt. If she was hurt, it meant she still cared.
Milly took his arm and happily turned to go back to the east wing, but then she saw someone sitting nearby.
