Chapter 42 The Spark In Her Eyes

Dylan pushed the wheelchair inside and closed the door behind him. The room was bathed in the golden red glow of the setting evening sun

Amelia bent her legs a little. There was still a dull ache, but walking wasn’t a problem

Dylan came over, filed her glass of w Dylan came over, filled her glass of water, and looked at the injury on her knee. water, and looked at the injury on her knee

Do you feel wronged?”

Amelia hadn’t thought much about it before, but that’s just how people are. You can sometimes push through hardship by gritting your teeth, but someone’s worry can make your defenses fall apart

Dylan handed the glass to her. Hale Corporation can still secure the tourism bid, even if the Agricultural Aid project fails,he said, trying to reassure her

Amelia didn’t take the cup. She sat on the edge of the bed and slowly clenched her fists, making her nails dig into her palm. The sharp pain took her mind off her feelings

She looked up, her voice stubborn. I haven’t failed yet, I have many other solutions.”

Dylan caught the spark in her eyes, his fingers tensing slightly. He held the glass tighter and tighter in his hand

Amelia’s eyes were bright and beautiful like a match struck in a powder keg. She might not have known how interesting she was at that moment

Dylan turned his head away and drank some water, making his Adam’s apple bob. Do what you think is best.”

Amelia smiled and said, “Don’t worry, Mr. Hale. I won’t let this affect the company’s reputation.”

But Dylan had turned around with his back straight and tall. That wasn’t what I was worried about.”

He hadn’t clarified what he was worried about

Amelia rested in her room for half an hour before someone knocked on her door again. When she opened it, Nathan was standing outside

Nathan’s voice was businesslike. Mr. Hale asks you to join him for dinner, Ms. Summers.”

Amelia was dying to have a proper meal, since she had had apples all day

She walked into Dylan’s room, where the lights were bright and a fancy dinner was waiting for her on the table

He sat on the table and quietly flipped through a book. He slowly looked up when he heard her come in. Take a seat.”

She was hungry, so she skipped all formalities and sat down right away. Thank you, Mr.

There were at least 15 dishes on the table, and they had everything from poultry to seafood. Amelia was a little taken aback. Dylan certainly didn’t skimp on meals

She picked up her fork and knife and began to eat slowly. Dylan put his book down and started to eat the

beef in front of him

Amelia was halfway full before she noticed that Dylan had barely touched his food. She was surprised because a man of his size had such a small appetite

Just then, someone knocked on her door outside

Amelia, are you there? It was Nemi, probably here to ask what they should do about the orders worth over 4000 dollars

Amelia got up, but her knee hurt so much that she fell to the ground. Instinctively, she grabbed the tablecloth and knocked over a bowl of pumpkin stew, spilling it all over Dylan’s pants

She froze for a moment, then quickly grabbed some napkins to wipe his pants. However, the stew had landed in a rather sensitive spot, so she realized how inappropriate her actions had been after a few wipes

She looked up and met his gaze

Dylan reached out and softly grabbed her wrist. His eyes were dark and unreadable. That’s enough.Amelia took a few steps back. I’m sorry, Mr. Hale. My knee just hurt all of a sudden.” Even now, her knee was still throbbing

He didn’t let go of her hand right away. After a few seconds, he asked, Is it very painful?”

Nemi’s voice could still be heard from outside, so Amelia replied, It’s fine now. I need to head to Greenvale tonight. Sienna Valley and Greenvale are two hours apart by car, so I probably won’t be able to make it back tonight. There are also apple orchards in Greenvale, and I want to talk to the local fruit farmers about -prices.”

The Agricultural Aid project was focused on the Willow District, which included Greenvale. But the apples from Greenvale weren’t as wellknown as those from Sienna Valley. The government officials wanted to make Sienna Valley apples famous first, so Greenvale had primarily been forgotten in recent years

She would go to Greenvale instead because the fruit farmers in Sienna Valley didn’t need her help. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but Dylan’s grip on her wrist seemed to tighten, his fingertips brushing lightly against her skin. It was so gentle it felt almost accidental, yet it left her skin burning

He let go of her wrist. The fruit farmers in Greenvale aren’t easy to deal with. They hold a lot of resentment toward Sienna Valley, since they’ve been ignored for so long.”

Amelia was surprised. She hadn’t expected Dylan to know this. If she hadn’t brought up Greenvale, would he have thought about this solution too

I know. I’ll show them my sincerity and earn their trust. Besides, the apples in Greenvale are just as good as those in Sienna Valley. They’re just not as wellknown.”
