Chapter 31 Going For A Site Visit
Dylan hadn’t said anything. He’d always kept his distance,

After a moment at her desk, Amelia noticed Sophia approaching. She carried a project contract, which she then placed on Amelia’s workspace.
“You’re heading to Sienna Valley to do a site visit for the Agricultural Aid project. Pack a bag and leave immediately. If you can’t handle hardship, feel free to resign now. It makes no difference for the department if you’re here or not,” said Sophia.
Other members in the department let out a breath of relief as soon as they heard this task had gone to Amelia.
Sienna Valley was desperately poor. There was no money to be made, and no practical opportunity for building up a resume because it was a collaborative project with the government. Anyone who could get into Hale Corporation didn’t need a credential like this.
It was just going to be an exhausting project. Anyone who was selected for this opportunity was unlucky, and that was Amelia.
Everyone’s faces were visibly happy as they offered her superficial congratulations.
“Amelia, looks like the higher–ups have their eye on you.”
“That’s right, even if we wanted to go, we wouldn’t have the chance.”
Amelia had promised to take on the project concerning Sienna Valley, but she couldn’t stand the sarcasm around her.
“I’ll go talk to Mr. Hale if you’re all interested. He said I could have an assistant, so you can volunteer for that,” Amelia said.
An immediate silence filled the room, and the smirking faces turned into sheepish expressions.
Amelia stood up, grabbed the project file, and then headed for the top floor.
Amelia had been given very little information because of Sophia’s dislike. She didn’t even know who she would be traveling with or when.
When she arrived at Dylan’s office, she found Nath

project in Sienna Valley. I wanted to…”
“But I’m due to leave shortly. I need the travel details at the very least.”
Nathan didn’t respond. Amelia felt disappointed. It felt as if she had been slapped several times across the face.
Since waking up in the hospital, she had grown accustomed to being so unwelcome. But she had thought that maybe Dylan would be different, that he did not hate her like everyone else.

It was clear that she had been deluding herself.
She felt like an island, alone and out of reach. No one wanted to be near her, much less like her.
She faked a smile. “Alright. I’ll go pack.”
Nathan still ignored her, making it clear just how unwelcome she was.
Back home, Amelia packed four outfits and two pairs of sneakers. When she zipped her suitcase shut, she received a text from Dylan. “Come downstairs.
She was caught off guard, thinking she must have misread the message.
When she went down with her suitcase, she saw his car parked outside.
It was a limousine. She opened the car door and saw him seated inside, with a wheelchair next to him.
“Mr. Hale, are you going to Sienna Valley too?”
Was Dylan the one traveling with her? But didn’t Sienna Valley only have the Agricultural Aid project? Why does the head of Hale Corporation need to leave?
She got in. As soon as she realized Dylan was going with her, that deep–seated dread came back.
Dylan spoke calmly with a stack of papers on his lap. “Sienna Valley isn’t just about Agricultural Aid. The government just announced a bid for a tourism development zone half an hour ago.”
A zone for tourism development?
Despite its poverty, Sienna Valley had its advantages, such as its untouched natural landscape.
Government officials had not promoted tourism growth for years. There would undoubtedly be fierce competition from businesses vying for the contract now that it had finally been approved.
Additionally, Sienna Valley was connected to numerous nearby places. The potential for long–term profit would be enormous if the area were developed successfully.
Amelia opened her laptop right away and looked up local attractions in Sienna Valley.
She realized why Dylan was going in person. The government had not simply loosened the restrictions. They also had significant incentives.

Hale Corporation had a fantastic opportunity here. They already had an Agricultural Aid project in the region, so completing it successfully would ensure that they would be in the lead for the tourism bid.
Amelia took out a pen and traced over a spot on the map and said, “Mr. Hale, if I recall correctly, there’s a famous ghost town here. Could we consider developing it into a large–scale haunted attraction?
“Many young people enjoy adventure these days. Crowds are more drawn to a real–life ghost town experience. Haunted houses in cities are simply no longer exciting enough.”
A little higher cost wouldn’t be an issue as long as the experience was valuable. Since personal enjoyment is becoming more and more important to young people these days.
Amelia tapped a couple more places, which were close to some locations for extreme sports. They could collaborate to create an exclusive experience.

She continued by highlighting a few more concepts, but Dylan’s face stayed expressionless.
