Chapter 177
Frank’s lips curled into a smirk. “Go talk to the doorman–tell him to alert us when Sophia arrives, then we’ll slip out the back door”
Benjamin wanted to stay and watch the drama unfold, having no intention of leaving.
Frank shot him a sideways glance, then looked at Henry, who was still slumped on the sofa spouting nonsense. “How are they supposed to be alone together if we’re still here?”
Benjamin quickly caught on and reluctantly scratched his head, sighing dramatically. “Damn! What a shame! Such a missed opportunity!”
Frank’s suggestion had genuinely tempted me–getting Henry to sign the divorce papers while he was too drunk to resist. Something so simple could immediately solve the problem that had been troubling me for so long. Within minutes, I’d bundled up in my white down jacket atid headed out the door.
When I arrived at the entertainment club, the doorman and waitstaff were unusually accommodating. The waiter guided me to Henry’s private room, which was empty except for him. Though suspicious, I approached Henry anyway.
My mission was clear: get his signature while he was drunk. I opened my purse and pulled out both the divorce papers and a pen I’d brought specifically for this purpose.
Henry was completely wasted–a boneless heap on the sofa. When he saw me approaching, his face broke into a smile. “Sophia? Is that really you? You actually came? I knew it. I knew you wouldn’t abandon me so easily.
In his intoxicated state, he looked just like Billy–the same childish expression. The thought of my son softened my heart momentarily. To coax Henry into signing, I sat beside him, took his hand, and smiled sweetly.
‘Yes, it’s me! I’ve come to take you home. But before we go, we need to play a little game.”
Henry happily clapped his hands. “I love when you’re like this! Sophia, you love me. You said so yourself. You also said you love when I suck on your nipples -it makes you feel so good.”
My cheeks burned as I quickly covered his mouth with my hand. Goddamn it! Henry wasn’t human–he was an animal! How could he say such vulgar things? If I’d known he’d be this disgusting when drunk, I never would have come.
Still, the thought of getting his signature on those divorce papers kept me going. I swallowed my anger and continued with my plan. “Henry, you’re drunk, so I’ll let that slide. But if you want me to take you home, you need to listen to me.” Seeing he was somewhat lucid, I added, “Stop talking nonsense, or I’ll cover your mouth again! And I’ll get angry–so angry I’ll leave you here all alone. Understand?”
The dazed man nodded vaguely. Satisfied that he was being cooperative, I removed my hand from his mouth and placed the pen in his hand. “Here, finish this game first, then I’ll take you home.”
My heart was racing with anticipation. The image of Henry’s signature on those divorce papers filled my mind, making my pulse quicken with excitement. Once he signed, I’d be free!
Though Henry was drunk, he wasn’t completely gone. Seeing the woman he’d been obsessing over sitting beside him, his consciousness sharpened slightly. When I covered his mouth, the sensation of my hand against his lips felt startlingly real. He stared at me, completely transfixed, as if seeing me for the first
time.
Even after I sat down next to him, he couldn’t tear his gaze away. “Sophia,” he murmured, his arm snaking around my waist and holding tight. “Don’t leave me! I’m your husband!
Facing this utterly intoxicated version of Henry, I didn’t push his hand away from my waist. Instead, I smiled tenderly, took his left hand in mine, and spoke in the gentlest voice I could manage. “Yes, yes, whatever you say. I’ll listen to you, okay?” Each time his fingers touched my skin, they trembled sly, betraying a hint of sadness.
“Sophia, I know I was wrong. I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. Isabella tricked me. I never thought she would trick me.”
His confessions went in one ear and out the other–I couldn’t care less about his problems. I took his long, elegant right hand and placed the pen in it. “Oh? How did she trick you??
“After we finish this game, you can tell me all about it, okay?”

“Be good now. Listen to me first. Complete this game, and I’ll hear all about how you were tricked, alright?
In truth, I was elated. Tricked? Serves him right! It was absolutely fantastic news! I had no intention of comforting him. This situation was entirely his own doing why should I sympathize? I could barely contain my glee.
