Chapter 137
Nicholas‘ face darkened as he gritted his teeth. “Am I invisible here?”
‘Have I not been faithful?‘ he thought.
“Not at all,” Caesar replied with a smirk. “I’m just trying to steal her away. You guys aren’t married yet, so everyone has an equal shot, Sharon has the right to choose, doesn’t she?”
Caesar looked like someone who enjoyed stirring up drama.
‘This is rare,‘ he thought. ‘Nicholas is usually so cold and aloof, like nothing can touch him. But the moment I mentioned pursuing Sharon, he got angry Hmm, even the mighty fall for beautiful women.’
Sharon nodded. “That’s right.”
Nicholas froze, his expression stiffening. ‘Did I do something wrong?‘ he thought.
The typically proud man suddenly created a
atmosphere around him.
Caesar couldn’t help adding fuel to the fire. “ld you so.”
But in the next moment, Sharon looked directly at Caesar. “Even if I had to choose again, I wouldn’t pick you.”
Now it was Caesar’s turn to look completely dumbfounded. He looked offended. “Why not me? I’m super rich, good–looking, and talented. What’s wrong with me? Tell me, and I’ll explain.”
Several of Caesar’s fangirls standing nearby looked annoyed. When they heard Sharon’s words, they felt indignant too. “How could Caesar not be good enough for Sharon, a girl from the countryside?‘ they thought.
Sharon might have gained some attention recently, but the House of Obsidian was a place where only skill mattered. Outside status meant nothing in the House of Obsidian.
“The reason is simple,” Sharon said. She glanced at Caesar, then tilted her head toward Nicholas beside her. “It’s because he’s better looking than you.! prefer his type.”
Caesar nearly choked on his own breath. ‘Damn it,’ he thought. ‘What’s wrong with my type? Why do most women prefer guys like Nick? What’s so great about his brooding, thick–headed personality?‘
Nicholas, usually as cool as a cucumber, now seemed a bit smug himself.
Nicholas had never been particularly proud of his looks before, but now he felt a secret thrill. Sharon liked his appearance, which meant–by extension-
she kind of liked him.
Just like that, his previously gloomy mood blossomed into delight.
Nicholas even found himself warming up to Caesar. If it weren’t for that idiot, he’d never have known Sharon was into guys like him.
If Nicholas had a tail right now, he’d probably be like a large canine crouched at Sharon’s feet, wagging it excitedly. He’d be sticking his tongue out too, saying, “Look at me, gorgeous.”
“The dining area is upstairs, Let’s go,” Nicholas said, his voice cheerful.
Caesar tried to say something, but Nicholas blocked his path. The gentle expression vanished from Nicholas‘ face, his eyes suddenly filled with menace. “If you want to fight, we can set a time later. Don’t show up and you’re a little bitch.”
“Whoa, I was just joking around. Don’t take it so seriously, man,” Caesar said, backing up a step with an innocent look on his face.

Chapter 137
‘This guy’s getting angry. He really can’t take a joke,‘ Caesar thought.

Caesar was smart enough not to push it. Fighting here wasn’t realistic anyway. ‘If you’ve got what it takes, meet me at the House of Obsidian and wea settle this,‘ he thought.
Sharon and Nicholas disappeared into a room upstairs. Meanwhile, in a corner of the main hall, a man sat with his head hung low.
“Come on, Justin. Your goddess is here

“Yeah, I know Nicholas is around, but

“Of course, if you fail, Nicholas will just beat you up. There’s no shame in losing to him. Every guy at the academy has been defeated by Nicholas at some point.”
That comment only made Justin feel w
What had started as an innocent crush on his dream girl had been twisted into something sleazy by these guys. Now. Justin didn’t even have the courage to approach her directly.
Justin never would have guessed that his dream girl was actually the young lady of the Vance family. It was such a coincidence.
Lately, rumors about Sharon had been spreading like wildfire–how she hosted a party in the Queen’s Hall of Atlantis Hotel, how she spent 100 million Hunter Coins to buy inheritance rights to the Vance family.
Many people suspected the Baxter family was secretly helping her. But Justin knew better. Sharon was incredible all on her own. This was all her doing.
When Justin heard the academy was reopening, he’d left her a message on the Hunter Forum, but Sharon hadn’t replied.
‘This hurts so much,‘ Justin thought. ‘Did she forget about her old friends now that she’s the head of the Vance family?‘
Just then, Justin’s phone pinged with a message from Sharon: [Let’s meet up at the academy sometime.]
Justin jumped to his feet with a scream of joy. The sun was shining, the rain had stopped, and suddenly, everything felt possible again.
In the private box upstairs, Sharon was smiling as she texted
on her phone.
“What’s got you so happy?” Nicholas asked, his voice deliberately casual.
“Just a friend from Oriston Academy. We’re planning to meet up,” Sharon replied.
Instantly, alarm bells went off in Nicholas‘ head. ‘Is this friend a man or a woman?‘ he thought.
