The atmosphere turned painfully awkward.
Brent suddenly jumped in. “Hey Nick, don’t you remember? A long time ago, the president’s little daughter got kidnapped, and we happened to be there and rescued this girl. She was pretty young back then and passed out from fear. Didn’t she even wet her pants?”
“Shut up! What nonsense are you talking about?” Lydia’s face turned bright red with anger. She wanted nothing more than to cover Brent’s mouth. This man is so annoying. When did I ever wet my pants?‘ she thought.
Brent kept a straight face. “I’m not making this up. I was the one who carried you out, not Nick. If you fell in love at first sight, you should be in love with me, right? How did it become Nick instead?”
It was the first time Lydia had been put in her place by a man with no chance to fight back. By the time she came to her senses, Nicholas and Sharon had already disappeared.
Lydia stomped her foot in frustration. She had come to Oriston Academy specifically to get closer to Nicholas, but Sharon had ruined her plans.
Nicholas and Sharon walked side by side along a quiet campus path. He had probably chosen this route deliberately since there weren’t many people around.
With Nicholas‘ popularity, the main walkways would have been filled with girls like Lydia trying to approach him.
Nicholas cut an impressive figure in his black uniform, tall and elegant.
Sharon looked youthful in her sky–blue school uniform, her legs long and straight beneath the hem of her skirt.
From a distance, the two of them walking together looked like something out of a fairy tale.

“How are you adjusting to your first day at the academy?” Nicholas asked. “I know the old dorms aren’t in great condition.”
“It’s a bit of an adjustment,” Sharon admitted. “But thankfully it’s only for a month.”
Sharon got straight to the point. “Where’s the House of Obsidian? I want to check it out.”
“The House of Obsidian is on the other side of campus. It has a different entrance from the House of Ivory,” Nicholas explained. “Usually, students from House of Ivory need special permission to go there. Most can’t get in.”
Can’t get in?‘ Sharon thought with a frown, giving him a dissatisfied look. “That’s not what you told me before.”
Seeing Sharon’s furrowed brows, Nicholas smiled faintly, “True, but this month is just the evaluation period. You’ll have to wait until it ends.”
Sharon felt a bit bored. ‘So I have to wait a whole month,‘ she thought. She was getting a little impatient.
They walked to the end of the path where there was a distinctly unique–looking dining building.
Sharon had studied the House of Ivory’s layout before, and this didn’t look like the regular cafeteria everyone used.
“This is the club restaurant,” Nicholas explained helpfully. “Students run some restaurants inside too. It’s a lot more relaxed than the cafeteria.” He guided Sharon toward the entrance.
When they appeared in the main hall, the noisy room briefly fell silent. Almost everyone’s eyes landed on the pair.
‘Oh my god, is that girl with Nicholas the young lady of the Vance family? She looks even prettier in person than in photos, one student thought.

Almost everyone was staring at Sharon.
Nicholas, who normally commanded attention wherever he went, had been reduced to merely her companion when standing next to Sharon.
Nicholas wasn’t jealous, exactly. He just didn’t appreciate those stares, especially from other men.
His deep eyes swept across the room with an unmistakable air of authority. ‘What are you all looking at? She’s my fiancée, got it?‘ he thought. ‘Keep staring and I’ll gouge your eyes out!‘
The threatening look Nicholas gave everyone finally made those bold stares subside. People quieted down like scared deer, not daring to make any sudden moves. No one wanted to get on Nicholas‘ bad side. That never ended well.
But there was always someone who wasn’t afraid. Like the tall man who suddenly appeared, his golden hair impossibly bright. “Hello there! We meet again. Nick’s fiancée, right?” he called out cheerfully.
Caesar was also wearing the House of Obsidian uniform, though on him it looked more like something a slacker would throw on.
Nicholas, with his model student appearance, managed to look proper in anything he wore.
Sharon smiled, “Yeah, it’s been a while.”
“Let me tell you,” Caesar continued, “Nick is super popular at the academy. There are women who’ve literally put bounties on your head.
“Nicholas isn’t right for you. Don’t underestimate what those crazy women are capable of. Especially those lunatics in the Nick’s Fan Club at House of Obsidian,”
Caesar was deliberately stirring up trouble right to their faces.
Nicholas‘ expression immediately darkened. Only Caesar could get away with saying stuff like that. Anyone corner of the academy by now.
