yler’s POV
“I’m here today to propose on behalf of an elder in my family, my grand–uncle.”
The entire crowd gasped.
Clara’s face froze and she staggered a few steps. “Tyler, what are you saying? What grand–uncle? Aren’t you marrying me?”
Tyler raised an eyebrow, his voice deep. “Clara, you are my wife’s younger sister. I got married three years ago, so how could I marry you? Oh, by the way, you haven’t met my grand–uncle yet, have you?”
A man in his fifties stepped forward from behind him as he finished speaking.
Tyler gave a slight, respectful nod. “Uncle, you’re here.”
Clara took one look at the grand–uncle and her face drastically changed. She wanted to turn and
run away.
Rumor had it that the Jacobsons had a notorious ‘devil king‘ who had been married to over a dozen wives. Every one of his wives had been abused and left battered.
A few years prior, news of another divorce had circulated. That wife had hired the most expensive lawyer and sued him.
He was sentenced to prison and served several years. After his release, he went abroad and his whereabouts had been unknown for a long time.
She never expected the Jacobsons‘ notorious devil king to be back, standing right before her.
Clara knew she would meet a terrible end if she fell into his hands.
The grand–uncle’s eyes twinkled as he surveyed Clara up and down, nodding with satisfaction. ‘Is this the wife you found for me? Not bad, exactly my type.”
Clara felt a chill run through her. She stepped forward and grabbed Tyler’s arm. “Tyler, I’m your Clara! Have you forgotten? How could you do this to me?”
Tyler immediately shook her off, stepping back to create distance between them. “Excuse me, please mind our distance. Given our current relationship, it’s not appropriate for us to engage in such intimate, misleading gestures.”
‘Tyler, what are you doing? You know perfectly well who this man is! I never offended you!”
‘Why are you trying to ruin me? Does my dad know about this? He won’t let you get away with
it!”
Tyler sneered, raising his hand and slapping Clara across the face. “Don’t address me by my full name; show some respect.”
“Of course, your father knows. I personally sought his consent.”
With that, Tyler played a recording. Clara’s father’s voice could be heard from it.
“Clara, I’ve raised you for so many years; it’s time you did something for the Robinsons.”
“Marrying Tyler’s grand–uncle, that’s an order.”
Clara’s face turned ashen, her mind completely blank.
Chapter 10
8:07 pm D
“Impossible! My dad wouldn’t do this to me! It must be you! What did you do to my father?”
“You’re not that dumb, after all. But it doesn’t matter. You’re not getting away.”
Tyler stared coldly at Clara, his eyes filled with towering rage. “The Robinsons‘ businesses have been completely targeted by me. You are being exchanged for the Robinsons‘ peace for the next three months.”
Three months! She was sold off for just three months of peace!
Clara finally understood that no one could help her. At this moment, her only reliance was on
herself.
She spun around and ran towards the most crowded area, hoping to create chaos and escape.
Still, Tyler didn’t give her the chance. With a mere wave of his hand, bodyguards blocked her.
They dragged her towards the grand–uncle.
“Get her to the hotel! My uncle is waiting for the wedding night!”
Clara thrashed wildly, screaming in hysteria. Suddenly, she clutched her belly.
“No! Tyler! You can’t do this to me! I’m carrying your child!”
