Chapter 95
Chapter 95
Malcolm’s hand trembled slightly as he held his cigarette, nearly losing his grip on the phone. He had thought 100 million coins was already an enormous sum, but one billion was insane.
‘One billion coins? That’s beyond comprehension. Just who is this Vance girl anyway?‘ Malcolm thought.
Malcolm wasn’t the only one shocked. Everyone present was completely floored. Nobody had expected that.
Roxanne broke out in a cold sweat. “How is this even possible?” she muttered under her breath.
‘She’s just a country girl. Even her brothers, with all their power and influence over the years, couldn’t possibly have this many Hunter Coins, Roxanne thought.
Karen couldn’t help jumping in. “Mr. Hargrove, are you sure you didn’t make a mistake?”
“Are you questioning me?” Malcolm raised an eyebrow and snorted. “I graduated from the mathematics department at Oriston Academy. Do you really think I can’t count a few digits correctly? How low would my IQ have to be to make that kind of mistake?”
Jannie, catching strays in this conversation, thought, ‘You’re the one with the low IQ, you and your whole family!
Sharon suddenly looked up. ‘Actually, making a counting error didn’t really have much to do with intelligence, she thought.
Karen looked panicked as she glanced over at Sharon, her eyes nearly red with jealousy.
She’s supposed to be just some country girl,‘ Karen thought. She had the sinking feeling that Sharon had suddenly become mysterious and powerful in ways she could never match, no matter how hard she tried.
It was so unfair,‘ Karen thought. ‘Why did Sharon get to be this impressive?‘
Roxanne’s forehead was still beaded with cold sweat. Sharon had just threatened that if they didn’t agree to sell, the Vance family would be finished. One thousand gold coins alone were enough to give her a massive headache.
If it were 100 million or one billion Hunter Coins, Roxanne had no idea how long the Vance family could hold out.
For the first time in her life, Roxanne felt afraid. She looked up at Malcolm, her voice slightly unsteady. “Are you sure there’s nothing suspicious about where the coins in her account came from? What if someone cancels the transaction later?”
“That’s a good point,” Malcolm said. Gone was his previous wishy–washy, fence–sitting attitude. He looked at Sharon with serious intensity. “There are one billion Hunter Coins in your account. Did you know that?”
“I specifically said 100 million would be enough,” Sharon replied calmly. “But I guess they got the number of zeros wrong. That doesn’t change anything about our negotiation, right?”
‘That idiot Jannie,‘ Sharon thought. ‘I even reminded them specifically. At least they didn’t transfer too little. Otherwise, she’d strangle those three unreliable idiots when she got back.
Malcolm sucked in a sharp breath, then gave her a thumbs up. “I never thought the younger generation of the Four Great Families would become so impressive. You’re all absolute talents. Your father Thomas must be smiling in his grave to have such an accomplished daughter.”
Sharon’s expression remained neutral. “You’re too kind.”
“Not at all. You deserve the praise,” Malcolm insisted. “Your brothers can finally hold their heads high from now on.”
A young girl with one billion Hunter Coins was like a walking money printer, radiating with dazzling golden light too bright to look at directly.
‘Looking at her might make people feel inferior,‘ Malcolm thought.

Sharon suddenly remembered her brothers were still around. She turned to face them and said, “I just know a lot of friends who do pr. don’t spend much, so they gave these to me.”
The Hunter Forum was notoriously infamous, with a terrible reputation. Sharon couldn’t possibly admit this was her own forum. Otherwise, her little sister image would be completely ruined.
Malcolm nearly popped his eyes out of his head. ‘Young lady, your “friend” is literally the forum owner, he thought. What do you mean “pretty fru You’re being way too modest.
‘How could someone as arrogant and full of himself as Thomas have such a humble daughter? Life just isn’t fair.
Richard answered gently, “Shari, you’re so impressive, knowing such amazing friends. It must be because you’re so exceptional yourself,
Wallace nodded in agreement. “That’s right. Our sister is even more remarkable than we imagined. I’m proud of you.”
Marvin chimed in, “Shari, be my sugar mama from now on, okay? I’m seriously short on gold coins.”
Hunter Coins were incredibly valuable. In elite social circles, Hunter Coins were the standard currency. Marvin had always struggled to get his hands on
them.
Now Sharon had so many gold coins, she was practically loaded. ‘This is fantastic,‘ Marvin thought. ‘I can almost see my wonderful future waving at me.
Patrick patted his shoulder. “What are you thinking? How can you take money from Shari? Where’s your dignity?”
Marvin looked utterly dejected. ‘What good is dignity? It’s not like you can put dignity on the table,’ he thought.
“It’s totally fine,” Sharon said sweetly. “I have so many coins I couldn’t possibly spend them all. Let you guys enjoy them too. We’re family, after all.”
“Shari, you really do love me the most! I’m so touched. Love you,” Marvin exclaimed. He got so excited that his nose started bleeding. Covering it quickly, he hurried out to calm down before he lost too much blood.
Wallace shook his head. “Shari, just ignore Marvin. Giving him money is just wasting it.”
“Don’t worry. I have plenty,” Sharon replied with a huge grin. She looked so innocent and easy to take advantage of.
Malcolm, who had been quiet until now, suddenly felt frustrated. “Listen, Sharon, you can’t just throw money away like this. If you really have too much, the Elders‘ Council can help you manage it. You young people just don’t know how to save.”
‘That’s a billion Hunter Coins we’re talking about!‘ Malcolm thought, getting excited just thinking about it.
“No way,” Richard said flatly, his face darkening.
“I refuse,” Sharon said coldly.
They exchanged smiles, presenting yet another picture of perfect sibling harmony. The sight made Malcolm’s heart ache.
“Grandma! Grandma, what’s wrong?” Karen suddenly gasped.
“Mrs. Vance has fainted! Quick, call the doctor!” someone shouted.
Roxanne, who had been pretending to be invisible all this time, suddenly clutched her chest and collapsed.
Sharon glanced at her dismissively. “Mrs. Vance, that fainting trick doesn’t work anymore. I promise you the moment you step out that door, I’ll post that message. By the time you get back to the Vance family, those people will have arrived too.”
Roxanne’s eyes, which had been closed, snapped open in fury. “You little bastard,” she hissed.
