Chapter 16 Are You Jealous?
Finished
Amelia only realized her clothes were disheveled, completely unaware of the mark left on her neck. Her skin was naturally pale, and after being angered by Nolan, her checks were tinged with a faint pink.
Seeing no one behind Dylan’s wheelchair, she quickly stepped forward. “Mr. Hale.”
She placed her hands on the wheelchair handles, her attitude sincere, “Are you heading back to the top floor? Let me take you.”
Move.
“What?” She thought she had misheard.
Dylan maneuvered his wheelchair past her without a second glance. Standing rooted to the spot, it took Amelia a moment to realize she had been brushed off.
Taking a deep breath, she decided to let it go. No point bothering someone who clearly didn’t want her around.
When she found her workstation, she realized by some unfortunate–coincidence that it was located right outside Nolan’s office.
The Hale family’s current generation had several younger members. While Dylan’s seniority in the family was far higher than Nolan’s, the two were actually the same age.
Every younger member of the Hale family was expected to intern at the company. Dylan, the youngest son of the family patriarch, had been a child prodigy. Early on, he was named the heir apparent.
This position subjected him to countless assassination attempts over the years. Dylan had never been injured–until two years ago, when an accident left him paralyzed and bound to a wheelchair.
Many assumed this incident would end his status as heir, but the family patriarch said nothing, leaving the Hale family in constant turmoil.
Amelia sat at her workstation. Noticing her arrival, Nolan sneered, “Still denying that you came where to chase after me?”
Amelia took another deep breath, only to see a young woman walk over and drop a stack of documents, nearly as tall as half a person on her desk.
“You’re new right? Organize all of this by tomorrow.” The woman rolled her eyes as she spoke, making no effort to hide her disdain.
Amelia didn’t respond. She silently opened the first file. Nearby, a few people whispered among themselves.
“Isn’t that Amelia? What’s she doing in the department now?”
“She’s obviously here to chase Mr. Nolan. Didn’t you see how annoyed he was with her? How does she even have the nerve to keep following him around?”
“Just wait and see. She’ll keep stirring up drama. If she spots any woman getting close to Mr. Nolan, she’ll probably slap them. Seriously, what was the HR department thinking, letting someone like her in?”
Pretending not to hear the gossip, Amelia worked through the stack of documents. By the time she finished, it was already 9:00 pm. Most of the department had left for the day.

Amcha’s skin crawled with goosebumps. Nolan, doesn’t it hurt down there anymore?”
He took a step back, his expression full of wariness. “You’re going to kick me again? Amelit, haven’t you had enough of this? Take advantage of the fact that I’m still interested in you. If you reject me now, who knows when I’ll feel like kissing you again?”
Even Amelia, with all her patience, felt her temper snap. Her cheeks flushed red with anger at his absurd words
Nolan noticed the flicker of emotion on her usually composed face, suddenly found the idea of kissing her less unpleasam. He had to admit, Amelia’s face was undeniably beautiful.
Amelia let out a cold laugh and brushed past him. “You still smell like Milly’s perfume. ‘Desert Rose‘ is her
favorite scent.”
“Are you jealous?”
Amelia stepped inside into the elevator without another glance, her anger evaporating into an eerie calm.
Nolan followed her inside, his tone smug. “It’s no use being jealous. Milly is a hundred times better than
you
Amelia was too tired to waste her energy arguing with him and ignored him entirely. As soon as the elevator doors opened, they ran into Milly.
Seeing the two of them step out together, Milly’s eyes immediately filled with tears. “Nolan.”
For some reason, Nolan felt a twinge of guilt. Stepping forward, he pulled her into his arms. “What’s wrong? Didn’t I tell you I had to work late? Why are you here waiting for me again?”
“Were you really late, or were you stuck with Amelia?” Milly hung her head, tears streaming down her face.
Nolan kissed her on the cheek before turning to glare at Amelia, saying, “Amelia, aren’t you going to apologize?”
