Chapter 12 This Narcissist

Amelia stood rooted in place, unsure of what his last words incant. It seemed he had something to say

She had a strong feeling that before she lost her memory, she must have been deeply resistant to mecting Dylan

Adding to that were all the foolish actions she’d heard about from others, which likely made her a source of mockery for him

She raised her hands to rub her temples and sighed. In the middle of the night, she was awakened by the sound of a drunkard furiously banging on a door outside. She wasn’t sure if it was her door being pounded

She got up and listened carefully, but the noise gradually faded away. The next morning, Amelia prepared all the materials she needed for job interviews and wrote a résumé for herself before submitting it to the Hale Corporation

About half an hour after sending out the résumé, she received a rejection email. She wasn’t even given an interview opportunity

Amelia wasn’t discouraged and sent applications to several other departments but without exception, all were rejected

Her credentials were impressive and valuable, there was no reason for her résumé to be dismissed outright

At noon, Lily transferred 30,000 dollars to her, saying it was the commission from last night. Amelia’s eyes lit up. She immediately pulled out Nathan’s number, which she had saved, and called him

If her guess was correct, the man who helped her on the roadside yesterday was Dylan and Nathan should be Dylan’s assistant

She was too intimidated by Dylan to call him directly. Nathan answered quickly, his tone begrudging. Ms.

Summers.”

Amelia tried to keep her tone as gentle as possible. Hello Mr. Rowe, what’s your account number? I’ll transfer the money to you.”

A trace of mockery flickered in Nathan’s eyes. She had claimed she couldn’t scrape together money yesterday, but now she had.it. She was clearly putting on a show

He reported a string of numbers and then heard her ask, By the way, is Mr. Hale free in the next couple of days? I’d like to treat him to a meal.” She also wanted to ask him why she wasn’t allowed to work at the Hale Corporation

Ms. Summers, so you’ve finally revealed your intentions. Did Nolan say something again, and now you’re trying to use Mr. Hale to please your fiancé?Nathan accused

Amelia felt helpless. At this point, no one believed she had lost her memory. If you won’t help me, I’ll just ask Mr. Hale myself.”

After all, she had his number. Nathan felt a pang of frustration, He’s not free. For the next month, Mr. Hale is either in rehab or working. He barely leaves home.”

Where does he live?As soon as she asked, Nathan hung up the phone

It wasn’t hard to find out where Dylan livedthe Palm Bay neighbourhood. In the evening, Amelia left

home to hall a cab but spotted Milly by the roadside

Finished

Milly drove a luxury sports car worth several million dollars. She suddenly braked hard in front of Amelia. If the car had been a bit closer, it could have sent Amelia flying

A cold glint flashed in Amelia’s eyes as she watched Milly get out of the car. Today, Milly had dressed up meticulously. Her makeup was flawless, and she carried a limited edition designer handbag. She lookedlike a pampered princess

The Summers family wasn’t prominent among the elite families in Solandis. As for why Amelia had grown up alongside Nolan, it was primarily because her mother, Celia, and Nolan’s mother were close friends

Milly flicked her hair and smiled gently. Amelia, I didn’t expect to run into you here. Are you going to the Hale Corporation to wait for Nolan?”

Looking at Milly’s pretentious face, Amelia felt a wave of discomfort. Amelia wasn’t wearing any makeup. today, just a simple pair of jeans and a white shirt. Yet, this plain outfit exuded an untainted elegance on her

Jealousy filled Milly’s eyes and she forced a smirk. I’m meeting Nolan for dinner. Do you want to join us

Oh, by the way, after you left home, Mom bought me a new car to make up for the upset on my birthday. I didn’t scare you just now with that sudden stop, did I?”

In the past, Amelia would have been triggered by such words, spiraling into selfdoubt and becoming increasingly anxious and erratic. But now, she merely glanced at the car and smiled. It suits you.”

It was as if Milly’s punch had landed on cotton, leaving her feeling frustrated. If you want to see Nolan tonight, I can tell you where we’re having dinner.”

Amelia raised an eyebrow. So, in the past, the countless times she had interrupted Nolan and Milly’s dates

had all been because Milly had deliberately told her the location in advance

It seemed Milly had been waiting for her to act out, so Nolan could grow even more disgusted with her. Then Milly would play the victim, making Nolan feel even more protective of her

It was killing two birds with one stone. What a bitch
