Amelia gripped the handlebars of her rented electric bike, standing still as she watched the car drive away.
Inside the car, Dylan glanced at the documents in his hands while Nathan rambled on. “I’ve got all the details. She’s jealous again because of Nolan and Milly. Seems like Amelia’s about to have her engagement canceled by Nolan. Serves her right.”
Dylan paused, his fingers gripping the file tightly. Last time, Dylan had threatened to break off this engagement with Amelia. Amelia had refused. Nolan jokingly said that if she jumped off a bridge, he wouldn’t cancel the engagement.
Not even a few seconds passed before Amelia threw herself into the river from a bridge. She was hospitalized for a month but the engagement remained intact.
Now, Nolan wanted to call off the engagement again. Who knew what she’d do this time?
Amelia wobbled back to her rented place on her electric bike. After a quick trip out, she was now 20,000 dollars in debt. Her mood soured and she felt as though everything she did lately was cursed.
That was when Lily called her, “Amelia, aren’t you short on money? Do you want to come to Nocturne tonight?”
Nocturne was the most famous bar in Solandis, known as a money outlet for rich kids. Just one night working there could earn a small fortune in tips.
“Can I really make money there?” Amelia inquired.
“Yes. Last night, I got 6000 dollars in tips. The guys in private rooms are super generous. I’m supposed to work there for the next few days but I’ve got something to do tonight. If you want, I’ll give you the opportunity instead.”
6000 dollars? Amelia’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly asked for the address and hailed a taxi. Unbeknownst to her, her face was well–known at Nocturne, though she had no idea.
Entry was face–recognized. The bouncers at the entrance, who were paid handsomely, memorized the faces of every member and staff member to ensure no outsiders slipped in. Angering one of the rich second- generation heirs could cause big trouble.
The moment Amelia appeared, the bouncers‘ expression shifted to disdain. This woman had caused plenty of scenes here before. Once, when Nolan had gotten too close to a hostess, Amelia had slapped the hostess
several times.
As soon as Nolan got angry, she quickly apologized. Her swift change of attitude made her appear utterly lacking in dignity.
A bouncer kindly reminded her, “Ms. Summers, please don’t stir up any more trouble tonight.”
Amelia raised her eyebrows, somewhat puzzled. Amelia stepped inside and found Lily in an employee changing room.
Lily handed over her uniform and while changing, reminded Amelia, “Take the drinks in and serve the most expensive ones. The pricier they are, the higher your commission tonight. Once the paycheck comes in, I’ll transfer it directly to you. I have to leave now, so I’m counting on you.”

Amelia quickly changed into the uniform. The form–fitting outfit was clearly designed to cater to certain
men’s tastes.
Amelia’s figure was already stunning. Now it was even more eye–catching, enough to make anyone’s nose bleed.
Lily lowered her eyelashes to hide the emotions in her eyes. “Alright, you can go in now. The room at the very end of the hallway is the one.”
Amelia nodded and flashed her a smile. “Thanks, Lily.” She then pushed the cart full of drinks towards the private room.
Inside the private room, Nolan was chatting with a few friends.
Felix scoffed and held up a finger, sneering, “I bet she’ll come crawling back in just one day. Last time Nolan mentioned breaking off the engagement, she was ready to throw herself off a building.”
“Seriously, what’s with Nolan’s charm? He’s got Amelia completely wrapped around his finger.”
“If she didn’t love him so much, honestly, I wouldn’t mind having a go at her myself with that face of hers.” Hearing his group of friends flattering him, Nolan felt immensely satisfied.
For men, nothing was more important than saving face. Amelia’s looks paired with years of devotion to him were enough to make any man envious.
Nolan had once liked Amelia but there’s truth to the saying, when a woman is too clingy, she loses her value.
The first time he humiliated her, the second time he humiliated her, it only made her love him more obsessively. Over time, he came to believe that Amelia would never leave, that there was no need to comfort her. She’d always come back on her own.
Nolan leaned back in his seat, his youthful face full of arrogance. “I bet she’ll come looking for me tonight. I know Amelia took well. She can’t survive without me.
Just as Nolan finished speaking, the door to the private room opened. Amelia appeared at the doorway, pushing a cart of drinks.
