Chapter 72
She took a deep breath. The bike was really something. She could almost feel the thrill of pressing down on the accelerator, the roar of the engine beneath her, the rush of adrenaline. It was exhilarating.
“Ms. Vance, you should change your shoes,” Joan said, holding out a pair of flats. High heels were not suitable for riding a motorcycle.
“Oh, right.” Sharon began to dismount when a man crouched beside her and began to remove her high heels.
Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked at Nicholas. She hadn’t expected him to help her with her shoes.
The proud heir of the Baxter family, known for his aloofness, was how humbly crouching before her, attending to her shoes.
She looked down at his handsome features, sharp and refined, and found him rather charming in his earnestness. This scene was etched into everyone’s
memory.
Everyone around them gasped. ‘What kind of fairytale moment is this? Is that Mr. Baxter bending down?‘ they thought.
Nicholas had always been the epitome of excellence among the younger generation, outshining his peers from a young age.
Since joining Oriston Academy, he had not only surpassed his contemporaries but also many of his seniors.
His reputation as a high achiever was well–known, and his aloof, unapproachable demeanor had become legendary.
Many young ladies from prominent families had tried to woo Nicholas, hoping for a romantic encounter, only to be rebuffed or, worse, humiliated by his blunt honesty.
Some were left in tears, forever scarred by their encounter with him. Yet, despite these setbacks, the allure of Nicholas remained undiminished.
As the heir of the Baxter family, the foremost of the four great families, and a top student at Oriston Academy, Nicholas had everything going for him. His good looks only added to his appeal. It was no wonder that he had legions of female admirers.
Now, however, the man they had all pined for was showing such tenderness toward another girl. The sight was almost too much to bear. Jealousy burned in their hearts, and many felt a pang of loss.
In the past, Nicholas’s lack of a romantic interest had been a source of frustration for these women, had all been in the same boat.
but it had also been a sort of comfort. At least they
Now, however, one woman had broken through his defenses, and it felt like a personal affront. Today turned into a day of heartbreak for every woman here. It was so brutal.
If it had been any other woman, they might have found some solace in belittling her. But Sharon was no ordinary girl. She was rumored to possess an S- level bloodline, and her future achievements might even surpass Nicholas’s.
They were destined to look up to her, and there was nothing they could do about it.
In just a minute, many of the women present had experienced a whirlwind of emotions. It was a day of heartbreak for them all.
Marvin felt something was amiss and was about to step forward, but Richard held him back, shaking his head slightly. He watched Nicholas with a complex expression.
‘I didn’t expect Nicholas to be willing to do this for Shari,‘ Richard murmured inwardly.
“Richard, he is up to no good,” Marvin insisted.
“Let’s see how it plays out. Shari doesn’t seem to mind his closeness,” Richard replied thoughtfully, deciding not to intervene.
When the Vance brothers had brought Shari back into their lives, it had taken a lot of effort to win her over and see her smile at them warmly.

Sharon was naturally emotionally distant. Since she didn’t seem to object to Nicholas’s actions, they decided to stay back.
In truth, Sharon was taken aback by Nicholas’s gesture. She never expected someone as refined as him to kneel down and help her with something a trivial. To say she wasn’t moved would be a lie.
She had never had anyone help her with her shoes before. It felt a bit strange.
Though she remained calm on the outside, the slight movement of her toes betrayed her inner turmoil. She pursed her lips and said, “Thank you
Nicholas glanced at her delicate, well–behaved toes and offered a faint, almost imperceptible smile. Sharon was adorable, from head to toe.
