Chapter 14
Rhett’s face darkened.
For the first time, a crack appeared in his certainty.
He hesitated. Reached for the USB-
And that was when the door flew open.
Faye stormed in.
“Rhett… did Miss Vivian say something bad about me again?” Faye sniffled, voice trembling. “She clearly doesn’t want me around. Maybe… maybe it’s time I really left.”
Tears spilled down her cheeks. She turned, covering her face like countless times before, pretending
to run off in heartbreak.
Except this time…
No one chased her.
The move that had always worked before-
Fell flat.
She slowed her steps.
Looked back.
Once.
Twice.
Again,
Still no one came.
The elevator dinged softly behind her, doors sliding open. Still… no footsteps.

The pitiful mask on her face cracked.
She stood frozen, unsure if she should actually leave.
Back in the office, Rhett plugged in the USB.
His face was stone.
One video after another flashed across the screen.
Security footage.
Audio files.
All piecing together a truth he had refused to see:
Vivian never once tried to harm Faye.
It was always Faye–scheming, provoking, manipulating.
Rhett’s expression darkened like a brewing storm. His eyes glinted with danger.
“Bring her back,” he growled.
His fist clenched so tight his knuckles cracked audibly. Rage. Pure, white–hot rage.
The assistant hurried out–and found Faye still lingering at the elevator.
She looked up at him, eyes lighting up with false hope. The assistant had to bite back the contempt rising in his throat.
He’d never liked her.
Never understood what Mr. Sinclair saw in her.
Vivian was superior in every way.
Now… it was all too clear.
Faye forced out a few more tears, her voice sweetly pitiful.
“Did Rhett ask for me? Tell him… I don’t want to be his nameless mistress anymore.”

She pouted dramatically, pretending to walk away.
The assistant, face cold, blocked her path.
“Mr. Sinclair wants to see you. You’re not leaving.”
Before she could protest, he gripped her wrist and dragged her back to the office.
Faye’s heart started to pound.
Something felt off.
Very off.
Bang.

The door slammed shut behind her. Locked.
Rhett stood before her.
Tall. Furious. Unforgiving.
His hand shot out, fingers tightening around her throat.
“Where the hell did you get the guts to frame and hurt Vivian?” he spat. “Did I spoil you too much?”
“N–No… it wasn’t me–Vivian, she-”
Her face turned red as she clawed at his hand, gasping for air.
Just before she blacked out, Rhett released her.
She collapsed to the floor, gasping, coughing, eyes wide with terror.
He glared down at her with pure hatred.
No pity. No warmth. No trace of the man who once coddled her.
Faye trembled, tears streaming down her face, but not even she believed they would work this time.
She clutched at his pants leg, voice shaky and full of desperation.

Chapter 14
“Rhett… I didn’t do anything! It’s all a misunderstanding–I can explain! Vivian’s just jealous… I’ll apologize, okay? Please don’t be like this… I’m scared…”
Rhett looked at her like she was something foul beneath his shoe.
Was this really the woman who once had him wrapped around her finger?
Pathetic.
Disgusting.
He kicked her away with a sneer.
“Get off me. You make me sick.”
Then, turning to his assistant:
“Everything she did to Vivian–make her pay. Tenfold.”
“For starters… give her a hundred slaps. You do it.”
Faye froze.
Her world shattered.
He knew.
He knew everything.
He was going to make her pay. For Vivian.
Faye’s eyes darted around wildly, searching for a way out.
As the assistant approached, she backed up, shaking her head frantically.
No… please! You can’t do this! I didn’t do anything! Rhett, I thought you loved me!”
I helped you get rid of her! Isn’t that what you wanted?”
