Chapter 110
Juno’s POV
I opened my mouth to explain my intentions, but before I could speak, he pulled me to him with such force I gasped. His lips crashed down on mine, claiming, demanding. His kiss was hungry, desperate. I welcomed it fiercely, my body instantly responding as I pressed against him. I understood his need for love’s comfort in this storm. I needed this too.
“I need you,” he growled against my mouth, his hands sliding down to grip my thighs.
“Take me,” I whispered back, wrapping my
arms
around his neck
In one swift motion, he lifted me, my legs instinctively wrapping around his waist as he carried me to the wall. The cool surface pressed against my back, a stark contrast to the burning heat of his body against mine. His hands were everywhere, gripping my hips, sliding under my shirt, cupping my breasts with possessive urgency.
My shirt torn open, his pants hastily pushed down. He entered me in one powerful thrust that made me cry out, my head falling back against the wall. Each movement drove away Amelia’s anger, each desperate kiss erased her accusations. The room filled with our combined scents.
He growled into my neck, his teeth scraping the sensitive skin where his mark would one day be.
I gasped, feeling my body tighten around him, my inner muscles clenching as pleasure built within me.
Seraphine howled in approval, a growl–moan rumbling deep inside me as my eyes flashed with her power. I clutched Augustin’s shoulders, nails digging into his skin deep. I wanted to mark him as badly as I wanted him to mark me.
“Augustin,” I cried out as my release neared.
He captured my mouth again, swallowing my scream as pleasure crashed through me in violent waves. His own release followed moments later, his body tensing against mine.
In that moment of complete surrender, I craved his mark–his teeth breaking skin, his claim made permanent. I tilted my head instinctively, offering my neck. I wanted to belong to him completely, to have irrefutable proof for Amelia that I was his and he was mine. He had more than just his family–he had me and the children we would have someday. I wanted to
be his essential other half, to build a family with him. Our love was strong enough to overcome any obstacle, whether from family or outside threats.
Afterward, Augustin gently set me down, my back still against the wall, and pressed his forehead to mine.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“For what?” I asked, still breathless, my body humming with aftershocks of pleasure.
His hands cupped my face, thumbs gently stroking my cheeks as his intense eyes locked with mine. “For what you did. For fighting for me when no one else would.” His voice cracked slightly. “Forcing my mother’s hand showed me how far you’re willing to go for me—something even she couldn’t do.” A haunted look crossed his face. “My own mother has never s up to Evanth, never truly defended me against him.”
He pressed his forehead to mine. “I’m not angry, Berry. I’m amazed and grateful for your actions. You saw the threat and didn’t hesitate.”

Chapter 110
Tears spilled over, streaming down my cheeks as emotion overwhelmed me. All the tension, fear, and worry I’d been holding suddenly released to a flood. My body shook with sobs I wrapped my arms tightly around him, burying my face against his chest, inhaling his comforting scent.
I was terrified, I confessed, my voice muffled against his skin. I was so afraid you’d be upset with me for interfering with
family. That you’d side with them over me.”
His arms tightened around me, one hand stroking my hair. “Never,” he whispered fiercely. “You are my family now too, Berry. My future. My everything.”
He held me gently, letting me release my emotions in the safety of his embrace.
Eventually, he guided me to the bed and sat beside me. “I noticed something was bothering you before I came home,” he said. “Would you like to share?”
I knew he needed to leave soon to deal with Evanth, but I decided to share my concerns. I sat up straighter, gathering my thoughts.
“Something about Evanth’s arrest doesn’t feel right,” I began, sitting up straighter, “It was too easy, too convenient. Everything fell into place like pieces in a game. Evanth may be foolish, but he’s not this foolish. This level of stupidity
would be remarkable even for him.”
“What exactly are you suggesting?” he asked, his eyes narrowing
I leaned forward, my mind racing through possibilities. “We need to trace the original order–the one that had no errors and wasn’t discovered until after everything happened. The timing is too perfect. Think about it. How convenient that this evidence appears just before the hearing where Quentor planned to challenge you.”
“You think Quentor did this and framed Evanth? That this is all a setup?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted, shaking my head vigorously. “But it all happened too quickly, like someone was deliberately directing our attention exactly where they wanted it.” I grabbed his hand. “We need to be careful. Keep this between us while we investigate the paperwork and the Dawnshere incident thoroughly. Something isn’t adding up.”
“Everything–and I mean everything–plays perfectly into someone’s hands. Matthew’s surprisingly mild reaction, him. reaching out to you instead of retaliating.” My eyes locked with his. “Whoever did this deliberately left a trail for you to find, perfectly constructed to make Evanth the scapegoat.”
I took a deep breath, “As much as I dislike your brother… I don’t think this was his doing. He’s being used. And I hate the thought that we might be playing right into someone else’s plan.”
Augustin considered my words thoughtfully. As a former Luna of Forestvale, I had extensive experience with investigations. Despite my anger at Amelia’s accusations, I understood that as a mother, she knew Evanth’s limitations just as well. For her sake, I hoped Evanth truly was innocent. Otherwise, it would bring shame to the family.
My feelings about Evanth’s situation were complicated. While I did believe he posed a threat to Augustin, I didn’t want an innocent person framed. My instinct told me there was a more complex conspiracy at work.
Shortly after, Augustin left to confer with Bryloch and Adryx. The determination in his eyes assured me that regardless of the truth, he would handle it justly.
After he left, Scarlett linked me. We just heard about Evanth, she said. Are you okay?

I composed myself, preparing for their arrival. I knew they wanted to help, and somehow, all our lives had become
entwined with this situation. Despite the confrontation with Amelia, I remained vigilant and focused. I felt responsible for helping uncover this potential threat to peace.
:
I sat on the edge of the bed, reflecting on Amelia’s anger and accusations. Whatever the conspiracy, I was certain the truth would eventually emerge.
Taking a deep breath, I prepared to share my suspicions with Scarlett and Freya. With their wisdom and strength, I hoped we could help Augustin navigate this crisis.
