Chapter 101
Juno’s Poy
Could feel Augustin tense beside me, but before he could respond, I placed a restraining hand on his arm. Maintaining my composure, I took Octavia’s offered hand.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Octavia,” I said smoothly. I’m Jung Augustin’s fiancée and future Luna Queen.” I leaned in slightly, “The other girls in the harem have mentioned you. How nice to finally put a face to the name.”
The smile froze on her face, her eyes widening with disbelief and loss. “Fiancée?” she sputtered, looking between Augustin and me. “How could you do this to me?” she demanded of him, “What do she has that I don’t?”
Augustin smiled, pulling me closer and wrapping an arm around my waist. “Isn’t it obvious?” he replied, his tone almost gentle.
He moved on quickly, you won’t be an exception. she linked me, catching me off guard.
Recovering quickly, I touched my chest with my left hand, deliberately drawing attention to the ruby engagement ring. “I’m certainly enjoying my time with Augustin,” I replied, purposely ambiguous about whether I was responding to her spoken question or her mental accusation.
The hurt in her eyes was unmistakable as she glanced at Quentor. That’s when I realized – Quentor had brought her here deliberately to cause trouble. The old man had orchestrated this confrontation.
Octavia walked away, her shoulders slumped in defeat.
“You bastard,” Augustin growled, grabbing Quentor by the collar and pulling him close.
I placed my hand on Augustin’s arm. “Let him go,” I requested softly. “Her words didn’t bother me.”
Augustin’s grip remained tight on Quentor’s clothing. “Try something like that again,” he warned, “and I’ll show you just how far I’m willing to go to make my point.”
He released Quentor with a slight shove, but before the older man could fully regain his balance, Adryx appeared seemingly out of nowhere and landed a solid punch to Quentor’s face. The older man went down hard.
The room fell silent, everyone shocked by the sudden violence. Adryx looked uncharacteristically furious, and I wondered what Quentor had done to provoke such a reaction from the normally controlled Gamma.
“Why did you invite all the women from our harem to breakfast!” Adryx demanded, standing over Quentor. “Are you trying to ruin my relationship? You know how upset Calliope makes Freya!”
He grabbed Quentor by the shirt, pulling him partially off the floor. “I should teach you a lesson,” he threatened.
“Adryx, enough,” Augustin commanded, “Let him go.”
Let me handle him, Alpha,” Adryx pleaded, not releasing his grip.
“I said enough, Augustin repeated firmly. “Let him go and calm down.”
Reluctantly, Adryx obeyed, dropping Quentor back to the floor. could feel the waves of anger radiating from him,

confirming what I’d always suspected, Adryx had Alpha qualities, even if he served as Gamma. His rage was so intense It affected me, making me press closer to Augustin for security.
Quentor wiped blood from his mouth, looking around the room with calculation in his eyes. To my dismay, Evanth stepped forward to support him, positioning himself between us and the fallen elder,
Evanth declared loudly, addressing not just us but the entire room. “Why are you and your friends ganging up on an old man, Augustin?”
His voice carried, ensuring everyone could hear his accusations. You’re nothing but a bully. You raised taxes on the poor in Dawnshere in Lakeside, and when they couldn’t pay, you sent troops to attack them.”
Evanth swept his arm dramatically. “And now you beat elder council members for minor infractions? Where does your cruelty and incompetence end?”
He turned away from us, addressing the assembled guests. “Ladles and gentlemen, I give you the King of Clifflands and his thugs.”
Augustin’s control snapped. He grabbed Evanth by the collar, pulling him close. This time, I didn’t try to stop him. Evanth had gone too far.
“You know damn well that I’m not behind–those attacks,” Augustin snarled. “You’re the one engineering this, Evanth. You attacked those villagers in Lakeside. You provoked Kieran from Fireland. Your thirst for power has you plotting against me,
your own brother.”
His grip tightened. “Even Mother won’t be able to stop me from dealing with you if you keep this up.”
The tables had turned completely. Where Evanth had been the aggressor, now he was on the defensive, his accusations thrown back in his face. But to my surprise, he started laughing. Augustin released him, stepping back in confusion.
“You’re playing innocent because you know your days ruling Clifflands are numbered,” Evanth taunted. “I know the truth it was you. And I’m going to prove it.”
Something inside me snapped. I stepped forward, positioning myself directly in front of Evanth.
“What possible benefit would Augustin gain from these attacks? I demanded.
His face contorted with hatred. “Stay out of this, you bitch who-
Before Augustin could even react, my hand cracked across Evanth’s face in a stinging slap.
“You should be ashamed to call yourself a Levenston,” I said coldly. “Your jealousy and scheming are the real threat to this family.”
Augustin gave me a startled look, then turned back to his brother. His fist connected with Evanth’s jaw, sending him sprawling to the floor. Before I could intervene, Augustin was on top of him, landing blow after blow.
“I warned you!” Augustin shouted between punches. “I warned you what would happen if you disrespected her again!”
I moved to stop Augustin, but it was too late. The situation had escalated beyond my control. It took both Adryx and Bryloch to pull Augustin off his brother.
Evanth lay on the floor, shocked, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. He clearly hadn’t expected such a violent

reaction.
“If you ever speak to or about my mate like that again,” August threatened, breathing heavily, “what I just did will seem like a gentle caress.”
Im only pointing out your evil deeds,” Evanth protested weakly “There’s nothing wrong with that.”
My heart ached for Augustin. Teats welled in my eyes as I glared at Evanth. Answer my question, Evanth. If Augustin is truly behind these attacks, what does he gain? What benefit or advantage comes to him?”
Evanth’s eyes shifted, unable to hold my gaze. He had no answer
“This isn’t about justice or truth,” I said softly. “This is about jealousy. You’re so consumed with envy for your brother that you’d destroy your family’s reputation and legacy.”
I knelt beside him. “The Levenston family only has the two of you left. If you continue down this path, you’ll end up alone,
with no one to turn to.”
I glanced at Quentor, who was watching from a safe distance. “Do you think Quentor really cares about you? You’ll regret trusting someone who’s using you for his own agenda instead of your own brother.”
Rising to my feet, I turned to Augustin. “Let’s go home,” I suggested.
Augustin pulled me close, kissing the top of my head. I didn’t care that everyone was watching us. In that moment, Augustin was all that mattered to me.
Sebastian approached us, apologizing profusely for the uncomfortable situation.
We departed in silence.
