The light that had returned to his eyes instantly dimmed, and disappointment thickened his
voice.
“Nora, it’s you.”
Shock flooded Nora’s eyes. She had always been the one Jasper cherished above all.
No matter how dark his moods had been, he had never treated her like this.
A flash of anger flickered across Nora’s face.
“Jasper, who did you expect it to be? Hallie? She’s gone. She’s never coming back.”
Hearing my name, Jasper shouted, his voice thick with disbelief.
“Impossible! Hallie would never leave me, not in this lifetime!”
He gripped Nora’s shoulders tightly, his voice shaking.
“Nora, do you know where Hallie went? Tell me. She’s never gone off on her own before. What if something happens to her…?”
Nora suppressed her anger and wrapped her arms around him, her voice turning sweet as she whined.
“How would I know? You’re the one who told her to leave. Isn’t it better now that she’s gone? Didn’t you always want her to leave? Now that she’s gone alone, let’s just set our wedding date.”
Suddenly, Jasper realized he had driven me away and told me to move out.
But he never imagined I’d disappear completely.
It felt as though a piece of his heart had been torn out. His phone vibrated, and his assistant’s respectful voice echoed through the speaker.
“President Camden, Hallie’s flight information is protected. We haven’t been able to track it yet. She went to the hospital that day. The footage has been sent to you. There was talk. Hallie might have overheard something about your girlfriend.”
Jasper frowned. “Girlfriend?”
The assistant hesitated, then spoke carefully.
“There were rumors that you reserved an entire floor at the hospital and took special care of your girlfriend. Some even said a wedding might be on the horizon…”
Jasper’s expression darkened like a storm cloud. “Whoever is spreading those rumors, tell them to report to HR for immediate termination!”
He hung up, eyes fixed on the screen as he opened the surveillance footage.
He watched as I stood outside the hospital room, turning away after brushing past his mother, then standing in silence for what seemed like an eternity.
He tried to read my face, but I was a blank canvas.
Suddenly, the image of him leaning in to kiss Nora flashed in his mind. Panic surged

He realized I had seen it. I had witnessed him with Nora, kissing her like she was the only
one.
I must’ve heard him say the words that shattered everything: he would marry her.
Jasper immediately grabbed his phone and called anyone who might have seen me. He even asked the cleaning lady.
Half an hour later, he gripped the phone tightly. Not a single soul knew where I had gone.
had vanished without a trace, without a word. Completely.
