Chapter 20 The Ruthless Girl
Sharon searched the room but didn’t find Martin, Alyssa, or their kids.
She’d already warned them not to go out, so that left only one possibility. She
muttered, “They’ve been kidnapped.”
Her expression turned cold as she stormed straight into the bathroom. Four men were lying inside, their breathing faint.
She spoke icily, “Where are my dad and the others?”
No one answered.
Sharon stomped her foot down on the chest of the man in the middle, right where he was clutching it. The impact nearly knocked the breath out of him. It hurt like hell. He thought, ‘How does a girl this tiny hit that hard?”
Her toes pressed down slowly as her beautiful eyes darkened. “Talk.”
Sharon controlled her strength precisely. It wouldn’t cause a fracture that could rupture organs and lead to death, but it was more than enough to make him hurt like hell and feel absolutely miserable. It was her standard method in interrogations. Nicholas saw Sharon’s slender foot pressing into the man’s chest, blood staining the sole of her shoe. His neat freak instincts kicked in. He suddenly wanted to wipe it clean for her.
He thought, ‘This kind of questioning probably won’t get much out of him.’
Nicholas fixed his eyes on the martial artist, his expression carrying weight. “Answer her.”
The martial artist couldn’t get a single word out from the pain. He thought, ‘She’s vicious. Her interrogation style is exactly what we assassins use, maybe even more polished.
Wasn’t she supposed to be some nobody from a poor village? Not only did we run into a high–ranking martial artist, but this girl’s no joke either. This job’s a total bust.
He couldn’t take it anymore and gave in. “They’ve been taken.”
Sharon’s eyes were filled with menace. “Who hired you?” She had a guess, but she wanted it confirmed.
The martial artist said, “No idea. We only take orders through a single channel.”
Sharon pressed her toes down. A rib of his snapped beneath her foot. She ground the broken bone without flinching. “Wh

However, Sharon’s gaze was cold, and she even gave a faint smile.
At that moment, the martial artist realized she wasn’t going to let up. He had no choice but to give in. “It was the Dolan family.”
Sharon immediately lifted her foot. Just as he took a breath, she slammed it back down and her chin lifted slightly. “I figured as much.”
“Why?” The mid–ranking martial artist looked stunned. He had already answered her, and he couldn’t understand why she was still going at him so hard.
“I never said I’d let you off the hook. You’re way too naive. Do assassins survive on wishful thinking now?” Her eyes were ice–cold, her gaze laced with contempt.
The martial artist passed out from sheer rage. He thought, I’ve never seen a girl who looks like a little princess and hits this damn hard. This just makes no sense at all, does it?‘
Of course, he no longer had the chance to ask.
Sharon pulled her foot back. When she turned around, her expression returned to normal, though her voice carried a trace of worry. “It’s my fault Dad and the others got dragged into this.”
She figured if it weren’t for her, they wouldn’t have gotten involved.
“This isn’t your fault,” Nicholas said, unable to stop himself from reaching out to ruffle her hair. But Sharon turned her head and avoided him. He blinked, surprised, then pulled his hand back, saying, “I’ll take you to the Dolan Estate. We’re getting them back.
He hadn’t expected the Dolan family to be this bold.
“Okay.” Something dark and unreadable flickered in Sharon’s eyes. If the Dolans. refused to hand them over, she wouldn’t hold back.
The two of them walked out of the hotel together. A car was parked just outside.
The driver rolled down the window. “Nick, where are you taking your date?”
Brent had followed them out of curiosity, but wisely didn’t get in–he didn’t want to ruin. Nicholas’s hero moment.
“To your house,” Nicholas replied.
Once they were in the car, Sharon heard that and instinctively glanced at Brent, her gaze not particularly friendly. She thought, ‘Is this guy a Dolan?”
Brent let out an awkward cough. “Nick, Sharon, mind cluing me in? I feel like I missed. something here.”
He wondered, ‘Why are we suddenly heading to my place? And what’s with the way Sharon’s looking at me? It’s kinda scary!

Nicholas raised an eyebrow. “Don’t play dumb. Your aunt Janelle came after her. She sent hitmen to kill her, and kidnapped her family.”
Brent almost lost it, thinking, ‘No wonder Sharon gave me that terrifying look earlier.” He slammed the gas pedal. “Don’t worry, Sharon. I’ll take you to my place and get to the bottom of this. Leave it to me.”
Even though the four major families had their fair share of secret feuds, he never thought it would go this far–straight–up kidnapping. Then again, knowing how much Janelle doted on Garrett, Brent figured it wasn’t entirely impossible.
An hour later, the car pulled into the Dolan family’s hillside villa district.
Sharon had tried calling Martin several times on the way and even used the location. tracker, but still couldn’t find where they were. The Dolan family had clearly come prepared.
Brent was the first to get out. He walked ahead as the servants all greeted, “Mr. Brent Dolan, welcome home.”
“Yeah. Where’s Uncle Billy and Aunt Janelle?” Brent asked.
One of the staff answered, “Ms. Dolan just got back from picking up Mr. Garrett Dolan from the hospital. They should be at their villa right now.”
Brent nodded and headed straight toward Janelle’s family’s house with the others following behind.
Inside the main hall, Garrett was still in his wheelchair, looking thoroughly annoyed. Breaking his leg had been a total humiliation–he’d lost to some bumpkin from a poor village.
Brent’s voice rang out from the entrance. “Garrett, how’s your leg? Come on, take a few steps and let me see.”
The moment Garrett heard his cousin Brent, his face turned grim. He thought, ‘My leg’s broken. Can he not be such a jerk about it?”
“Sharon, how dare you show your face here?” Janelle shrieked the second she saw the two behind Brent and spotted Sharon. She thought, ‘What the hell is this dangerous brat doing here? Is she here for revenge?”
Janelle looked like she was bracing for war. “I’m warning you, this is the Dolan Estate. We’ve got plenty of high–ranking martial artists. You so much as lift a finger, you’re dead.”
She pondered, ‘She’s seriously bad news.
Garrett, too, got fired up the moment he saw the one he thought was responsible for all of it. “Sharon, do you have a death wish or something? I haven’t even come for your yet, and here you are barging into my place.”

Brent smacked Garrett on the head. “Watch your mouth. That’s my buddy’s fiancée- show some respect.”
“She’s the one who made me break my leg.”
“You lost because you suck. You fell on your own. Now you wanna blame her? Have you no shame?”
Brent hadn’t expected Janelle to actually bring people to the hotel to go after Sharon. Sharon might not have come from some powerful background, but she was Nicholas’s
fiancée.
Garrett got shut down and held back his anger in silence.
Brent cleared his throat and got to the point. “Aunt Janelle, let me ask you something. Did you send hitmen to the Atlantis Hotel and kidnap the Crawford family?”
“Mom, that’s genius. You even had a backup move like that?” Garrett’s eyes lit up.
He thought, ‘Does that mean this damned wretch Sharon has to apologize to me now?” Just imagining it made him feel good inside.
But the atmosphere in the room suddenly felt colder. Garrett shrank his neck, then realized this was his house and puffed out his chest. “This is my place. What are your gonna do? So what if we kidnapped them?”
That line was so arrogant and punch–worthy even Brent couldn’t take it anymore. He punched Garrett hard. “Shut up.”
He turned to Janelle. “Aunt Janelle, if you’ve got Sharon’s family, let them go now. Sharon’s engaged to Nick. Sure, Mrs. Vance might not like her, but Mr. Edward Baxter adores her. You really wanna piss off the Baxter family over something this petty?”
Nicholas stood right next to Sharon, making his stance crystal clear.
Janelle looked surprised. “When did I ever kidnap her family?”
