Chapter 40
“Mmm, is there any news from Hilary’s side?”
“Not yet, sir. But I’ve sent someone to keep an eye on the Lynchs mansion.”
“Okay. You can leave now.”
Alex took his leave. Finally he could get an hour of rest before signing in again. Alone in the office, Sebastian took out the memory card forgotten in his pocket and plug it into the computer. He clicked play and watched the video.
Adora appeared on the screen gripped on the shoulder by Hilary. His heart clenched painfully at the sight. Why is he torturing himself by watching this. It certainly wouldn’t make him better. Sebastian was about to switch the computer off when Adora’s voice rang clear in the quiet office.
“… You’ve always been blind, Hilary. You will never have a fraction of what Sebastian has!” Sebastian’s hand paused mid–air, stunned as he heard this. He replayed the video from the start, listening to each and every sentence they shared. His heart swell at Adora’s words and by the time the video ends, he was smiling.
Adora was telling the truth when she said she wasn’t cheating on him.
His smile dropped, slowly morphing gloomy as he realized he had misunderstood the situation and accused her while she was
innocent all this time.
She was even defending him in front of Hilary. Sebastian became flustered, had he watched this yesterday, he wouldn’t have acted out of jealous and behaved rash towards Adora.
Without wasting anymore at the office, Sebastian rushed out of the office and into his car. He couldn’t wait to see Adora and apologize for accusing her.
Speeding on the vacant road at dawn, he arrived at the mansion under 30 minutes. He met a group of people leaving the mansion as he entered, and asked Mr. Greg waiting by the door.
“What happened while I was away? Who are those?”
“Welcome home, sir. There was a power outage around 9pm last night. These are the workers that came to repair the circuit.”
“A power outage? Why didn’t you inform me? What about Adora? Where is she?” Sebastian fired before the butler can reply. Adora was afraid of thunder, and she had to spend the night alone in the dark.
“Ms Adora locked herself in her room on the second floor. She didn’t even eat dinner last night.” Mr. Greg pursed his lips, debating whether or not to go on. “If I may be bold, Sir. I know it’s not my place, but can you please forgive Ms Adora? You’ve punished her enough, I’m sure she learned her lesson. She’s just a young girl that is just stepping into the adult world. You’re the only one she have to guide her.”
Butler Greg said, bowing at the end. His words cut through Sebastian like arrows, he felt extremely ashamed and uncomfortable.
“I see. Please have the kitchen prepare her favorite food and bring it upstairs. I’ll go check on her first.”
Sebastian rushed upstairs to the second floor. His heart was pounding fiercely in his chest for no reason. Taking a deep

Adora was buried under heaps of blankets to keep the storm away. But eves that proded minuman tepat the stayed awake throughout the night. When Sebastien returned in the morning, Adore heard the roaring of his car engines as he parked. Her body trembled when he opened the doors to her room calling on her name
But Adora didn’t reply, and continued pretending to be aslee
Sebastian walked to the pile of blankets on the bed and sat down at the edge, he ran his fingersighty braking her desk
Adora’s eyes slowly fluttered open, revealing Moodshot eyes. Sebastian felt a sting to his heart
“I’m really really sorry, Adora.”
Holding both of her hands in his, he brought them to his lips and kissed them. Hoping the would find it in her heart to forge
him.
“Just leave.” Adora whispered softly.
Sebastian didn’t expect Adora to send him away. He had wronged her, even if he was right and the cheated on him, the dader deserve to spend the night alone on a stormy night. But she was innocent all along he could imagine the bar and greate she went through. Still, he never thought she’d shut him out.
“I don’t want to be here anymore.” Adora continued.
“This room here is too big and scary for me to sleep alone. Especially when there is a blackout.”
“Adora…”
Sebastian reached for her hands again but she waved him away. She moved under the blanket trying to face away but hissed when her leg throb, sucking in a sharp breath.
“What’s wrong? Are you injured?” Sebastian noticed her leg bent in a strange angle and frowned
“That’s none of your business.”
It was Sebastian’s turn to draw in a sharp breath. “Stop… don’t do this! Tell me what’s wrong.”
Sebastian yanked the blanket away and lifted her into his arms adjusting her to sit on his lap. There was a wide gash on the sole of her left foot.
When and how did she get a wound like this? And most especially, why hasn’t it been cleaned yet?
