Chapter 8
Julia’s POV
Tamara tilted her head as she gazed at Darren in concern.
“Are you alright? You don’t look good.” She asked.
Her words reminded Darren that his mate was dead. His gaze darkened with pain and anger. “Jul…Julia is dead, she… she was the pregnant woman” He replied, his voice breaking slightly.
Tamara gasped in horror, and tears began to fall down her face.
“No, no. Oh my God!” She cried, covering her mouth as she sobbed. “Oh I can’t believe this! This is all my fault! I kept relying on you too much, that you couldn’t be there for her. If not for me, you might have been able to help her!” She cried.
She was twisting the knife deeper into Darren’s heart, and I saw a flash of guilt in his eyes.
“Oh, I need to apologize to her! Where is she?” She whimpered, clutching Darren’s arms tightly as she sobbed.
Darren led her to the cold room where my body was kept.
She wasn’t allowed in there, but Darren was too worried about her to care about it. Besides, he was the alpha, he could do whatever he wanted.
It was painful to watch Darren break rules just to please her. It was never like that with me.
Before Darren met me as his mate, he had already fallen in love with Tamara. He met her during a two–month–long alphas‘ convention, where she was one of the workers attending to him. After the convention ended, she disappeared, and Darren spent months searching for her before he met me, his fated mate. Even after we were together, he continued to look for her but didn’t find her until four months ago during the fight with the Bloodhounds, where he rescued her from captivity.
I had always known that I wasn’t the one Darren truly wanted, and I had learned to live with that reality. But it had been so painful to endure.
Darren had once loved me because we were mates, but it never reached the level of his love for Tamara,
I stared at Tamara as she cried in Darren’s arms. They looked so good together. Perhaps I could just let them be together, I thought bitterly.
I scoffed as I watched Tamara sob uncontrollably beside my body. She was even throwing up. If I didn’t know her, I might have believed she actually cared.
Darren had to even start comforting her, looking so worried about her. Finally, he called a task force member to take her home.
‘I promise, when I’m finished here, I’ll come home immediately.” He assured her.
She nodded pitifully, sniffling. “Please make sure you find who did this awful thing to Julia.” She cried.
Darren nodded stiffly, and turned away to face my body once more.
Immediately he turned, Tamara’s facial expression changed, and she smirked. Her eyes gleamed

with hate, satisfaction and joy as she walked away.
Tears welled up in his eyes as he stared at my disfigured body. However, his eyebrows furrowed when he saw my pierced nose on my face. He glanced down, and saw my left leg, with the scar from the rogue bite when I was little.
“What?” He muttered in disbelief to himself.
“Sean!” He yelled out.
Sean burst into the room hurriedly. “Yes, alpha,”
Darren pointed at my nose and left leg. “How? Where did you find it?”
Sean frowned slightly as he stared at the parts of my body that were supposed to be missing.
“We haven’t found it yet,” Sean replied, looking confused.
When they asked around, nobody could explain how the missing body parts had magically appeared.
But I knew how it got there. It was Tamara.
