Julia’s POV

After Darren’s mother fell ill, I insisted that she come stay with us, so that I could take care of her well

I knew how much Darren cared about his mother, she was all he had after he lost his father to a rogue attack. So that was what made me decide to make her move in with us. I remembered how happy Darren had been about it

Her sickness was a very rare illness, but it was curable, with a special drug. I had taken it upon myself to administer the drug to her myself

At first, it was working, but after a month, I started noticing slight changes that weren’t good at all. I was getting worried, but I figured it was probably a side effect of the drugs

However, her health was getting worse, and before long, she died

The healer that came in, announced that she died as a result of frequent overdose of the drugs. Even after I swore that I had been giving Darren’s mother the correct dose, the healer had insisted that I had been giving her an overdose of the drugs, and that was what killed her. Darren had been so livid at the healer’s words. He blamed me for killing his mother intentionally, because I had insisted that she moved in with us so I could take care of her myself

At first, I was confused. Why would he think that? But it was when the yelling started that I understood who was behind his thinking

Tamara was right! He yelled that day, You are trying to get my attention. You felt my mother was taking too much of my attention, so you fucking killed her!”

It turned out that Tamara had poisoned his mind against me, feeding him with lies that he believed readily. No matter what I told him, he had refused to listen as he believed that I was a liar who was just looking for his attention

When I told him I was pregnant, he hadn’t believed me either because he thought it was another way I was using to get his attention. He had been with Tamara since then, pouring his love and attention on her

I had tried so many times to beg him to forgive me for what happened. To tell him that I was innocent, that the healer’s record must have been a mistake, all to no avail

You fucking killed my mother! How dare you come here begging for forgiveness? He had yelled on the phone when I called him to beg because he hadn’t allowed me to come see him in the alpha’s office

Oh my Darren, you have been blind to the truth all these months, and now it’s too late to make things right….

Darren’s eyes were red, and I could see the pain reflected in his eyes. He clenched his jaw and rushed out of the room. He ran towards the cold room where my disfigured body was kept. However, he accidentally barged into Tamara who was coming from that direction

Ouch, Darren,” she cried as she fell to the floor, looking so weak and hurt like a fragile doll

Darren blinked as he noticed her on the floor

Oh my goodness, Tammy. I’m so sorry. He said softly, and with concern as he helped her up. “Are you alright? He asked gently, examining her to make sure she was alright

There was so much gentleness in his eyes as he gazed at her

She nodded slowly

What are you doing here?Darren asked with a soft voice

Tamara pouted, trying to look cute. I wanted to come keep you company, because I was scared of staying alone at home. I’m sorry for disturbing youShe mumbled, peeking up at him through her lashes

Darren gave her a warm smile as he rubbed his hands up and down her arms affectionately

It’s fine, I’m glad you’re here.”

I scoffed in disdain as I watched her pretend to be an angel, but I knew that she wasn’t all that she seemed to be
