Chapter 3
I wasn’t surprised by Nathaniel’s favoritism toward Vivienne.
Years ago, Vivienne rejected Nathaniel’s proposal and left to study abroad because Mrs. Grey was trying to match him with me.
Nathaniel drank for three days straight. When he sobered up, he seemed like a different person.
He gripped my chin, his eyes cold:
“Ruby, you like me, right? Let’s see how sincere you are.”
Nathaniel brought me to the Grey’s mansion. I thought he was finally willing to accept me, only to discover later that he was punishing me because Vivienne had left him.
The once–privileged daughter of the Sterling family willingly degraded herself to become his mistresses–but not the only one.
To humiliate me further, Nathaniel brought home ten more women, each bearing some resemblance
to Vivienne.
He made me serve them like a maid and even allow them to order me around. Then he would
mockingly say: “Ruby, your love is as worthless as you are. I don’t want a worthless woman.”
He posted photos of himself kissing them on Instagram, portraying himself as a playboy. But I knew
it was all to make Vivienne jealous. Nathaniel never actually touched those women or me.
When Vivienne returned seeking reconciliation, he coldly told her to become his twelfth mistress.
Unable to bear the humiliation, she retreated to her room in tears.
Though outwardly impatient, Nathaniel couldn’t help but follow her, taking her in his arms and comforting her with kisses.
That night, as if to avenge Vivienne, Nathaniel forced me to kneel and change their sheets seven
times. Vivienne’s body was covered in love marks–evidence of Nathaniel’s pent–up longing.
After a long silence, Mrs. Grey sighed with resignation:
“Since you’ve made your decision, I’ll respect it. That ungrateful boy doesn’t deserve you.”

Chapter 3
“Your grandma commissioned a wedding dress for you at the bridal salon in South End before she died. She designed it herself on her deathbed. Make sure you collect it. Ruby, dear, whoever you
marry, Grandma Grey wishes you happiness.”
I nodded gratefully. In this life, I would stay far away from Nathaniel Grey and pursue my own
happiness.
Early the next morning, after booking my flight, I went to pick up the wedding dress.
To my surprise, Nathaniel and Vivienne were already there. The store clerk was holding an exquisite dress, looking troubled:
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Grey specifically instructed that this dress is reserved for Miss Sterling. I really can’t sell it to you.”
Vivienne, wearing a micro–mini skirt, noticed me and turned to Nathaniel with teary eyes:
“Let it go, Nate. We shouldn’t take what belongs to Ruby–she’ll get upset again. I’m just sad I won’t be
wearing the most beautiful wedding dress when I marry you.”
Nathaniel immediately grew concerned and ordered me:
“Ruby, you won’t be marrying me anyway, so the dress is useless to you. Give it to Vivienne.”
“This was designed by my grandma for me. Why should I give it to her? You may not be marrying
me, but someone else will.”
Nathaniel’s face darkened as he sneered:
“You’ve clung to me like a leech for ten years. You can’t survive without me. And now you’re saying
you’ll marry someone else? This dress was clearly prepared by my grandma for her future
daughter–in–law. Only Vivienne deserves to wear it. Don’t be difficult.”
“If you give the dress to Vivienne, I’ll let you stay at the Grey estate, seeing me every day. But you’d better behave yourself and stop your foolish dreams!”
Ignoring him, I stepped forward to take the dress, but Vivienne wouldn’t let go.
During our struggle, her overpowering perfume invaded my nostrils, triggering a sudden wave of
morning sickness. Unable to hold back, I vomited on her leg.
Vivienne immediately burst into tears:

Chapter 3
“Ruby, I was just trying to help you with the dress. How could you deliberately embarrass me like
this?”
Nathaniel’s expression turned ominous: “Lick it clean.”
I stared at him in disbelief: “What did you say?”
“You deliberately humiliated Vivienne because you’re upset about our marriage. Ruby, your disgusting tactics never end. Lick it clean, or you’re not leaving here today!”
When I didn’t move, he signaled his bodyguards to kick my knees, forcing me to kneel before Vivienne. He pressed my head toward her leg.
As I struggled, Vivienne pulled me up, giving Nathaniel a reproachful look:
“Look at you, always so impulsive. We can talk things out without frightening Ruby.”
“Ruby, Nathaniel just cares about me too much. I don’t blame you for what happened. Come with me
to the restroom to clean up?”
With that, she dragged me forcefully into the bathroom.
Once Vivienne had cleaned the mess from her leg, I saw fresh blood flowing down her thigh.
