Chapter 49
“Thank you, mommy.” Farah su pressed the disappointment on her face and replaced it with a sweet, obedient smile that Mrs. Ashcroft adored.
But in truth, Farah always harbored resentment toward Mrs. Ashcroft. If Mrs. Ashcroft hadn’t called her for a conversation last night, she and Zvonimir would have already been intimate, and she wouldn’t be in this awkward position now.
She also wondered how Zvonimir dealt with his desires last night. Could he have found some random she–wolf to sleep with? Just now, Zvonimir rushed out so quickly–was he really going to the company to work, or somewhere else?
Thinking of this, Farah became even more anxious. Less than ten minutes after Zvonimir left, she told Mrs. Ashcroft that she had plans to go shopping with a friend and left the mansion.
She wanted to go to Ashcroft Group to see if Zvonimir was lying to her.
In the multimillion–dollar villa district in the west of the empire.
Zvonimir stormed into the villa, and as soon as he entered, he saw Rishima reclining on the sofa. Her eyes were closed, her face pale, and her brows slightly furrowed as if she weren’t sleeping comfortably.
Perhaps awakened by Zvonimir’s presence, Rishima opened her eyes, gave him a cold glance, then sat up and said, “Why are you here?”
Rishima’s calm tone only fueled the fire in Zvonimir’s chest, though for some reason, amidst his anger, he felt a slight joy. It had been a long time since she spoke to him in such a composed manner
Ever since they severed their marital bond, every time Rishima saw him, she would speak in a disgruntled tone, and when angry, she would even hit him or stab him with a knife.
Zvonimir felt a faint sense of euphoria. He stared at Rishima’s soft, rosy lips for a moment before suddenly realizing something was off. Yesterday, this female had cursed him out at the hospital–why was she so calm today?
She must have done something wrong to him, and her guilt was showing.
Zvonimir thought about how she hadn’t returned home all night, and the joy in his heart instantly vanished. He sneered, “Where were you last night? Did you go meet some male wolf you met online? Hmph. How many times did you sleep with him? Which hotel did you two book?”
Each accusatory question Zvonimir hurled made Rishima seem like an unfaithful she–wolf caught in the act of adultery.
Rishima ignored him, simply closing her eyes and massaging her temples. Then she lay back down on the sofa, curling her legs up and shutting her eyes to sleep again.
“You refuse to tell the truth, huh? I’ll get to the bottom of this.” Zvonimir was enraged by Rishima’s indifferent attitude. He strode over to her and roughly tore her blouse open, exposing her pale, slightly sickly skin.
Her waist was both slender and alluringly soft. Because she was lying on her side, her figure formed a graceful curve that would make any male wolf want to reach out and savor her.
Seeing no hickeys or scratches from any intimate activity on her body, Zvonimir’s anger subsided slightly. But his gaze remained fixated on her waist, and his breathing grew heavier.

“Have you seen enough? Rishima didn’t avoid his gaze, nor did she show anger at his actions. In fact, her slightly hoarse voice even carried a pitiful tone.
Zvonimir looked at her and noted her pale complexion and the cold sweat on her forehead, making her look as if she were unwell.
Then, Rishima softly said to him, “Zvonimir, I’m feeling unwell.”
At that moment, Zvonimir felt as if a jolt of electricity surged through his heart, creating an indescribable, wonderful sensation.
He could no longer think clearly. Kneeling on one knee beside the sofa, he gently asked, “Where are you feeling unwell?
