Chapter 45
No wonder Zvonimir had gotten close to Farah right after discarding her. He didn’t love Farah; he only chose her as his mate because she could bear superior offspring for the Silverfang pack.
Now, Rishima felt a sliver of pity for Farah.
Farah had used every trick to seduce Zvonimir, pretending to be fragile and pitiful to earn his sympathy. She probably thought she had captivated Zvonimir, but little did she know that he was the true predator in this game.
Rishima was certain that if Farah couldn’t produce exceptional offspring for Zvonimir within the next two years, the elders of the Silverfang pack would cast her out without a second thought.
Looking at Shirley’s photograph, Rishima suddenly remembered something and asked Zvonimir, “On the night you were drunk, you called Shirley’s name, not Farah’s, didn’t you…”
Since the only female wolf with an ambiguous relationship with Zvonimir was Farah, Rishima had assumed he called her name while drunk. But it turned out she had misheard.
“Alright, stop nagging,” Zvonimir, both tired and irritated, interrupted Rishima impatiently, “Come here! Give me the photo!”
Rishima stood still, unmoving.
Zvonimir, annoyed, got up and walked toward her. Just as he was about to grab her wrist-
“Don’t touch me!” Rishima suddenly shouted loudly and threw Zvonimir’s wallet and phone to the ground.
Zvonimir immediately became furious and roared, “Damn it, are you crazy? You wanted an answer, I gave it to you, what more do you want?!”
“Because you disgust me!” Rishima said this and walked away without looking back.
Behind her came Zvonimir’s enraged shout, “Stop right there! If you take another step, just try-”
Ding-
The elevator doors closed, cutting off the sounds outside.
Walking out of the hospital, Rishima stood numbly by the roadside. Staring at the pitch–black night sky, she felt a wave of confusion, and a sudden sense of absurdity rose in her heart.
Tonight, she resembled a clown–no, not just tonight. For the past three years, in Zvonimir’s eyes, she had been nothing but a clown entertaining him.
She had thought Zvonimir was fickle, thought he liked Farah. But it turned out she was wrong.
The date written on the back of the photo was from six years ago. In other words, Zvonimir wasn’t fickle at all. He hadn’t even changed his love.
In the quiet of the late night, with no wolves on the road, Rishima shoved her hands into her coat pockets and wandered the streets for a long time, still unsure of where she could go.
Screech-” The sharp sound of tires braking pierced the dark night.
Rishima snapped back to reality and realized she was standing in the middle of an intersection, almost hit by a car.

Chapter 45
“Rishima?” A surprised yet gentle voice called out to her.
Shielding her eyes from the car’s headlights, Rishima saw Matthew stepping out of the vehicle.
Her first instinct was to run!

But Matthew, noticing her intent, quickly approached before she could turn to leave.
“Rishima!” Matthew grabbed her arm.
Rishima forced a faint smile. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jones. I didn’t mean to block your car.”
An
“It’s alright.” Matthew stared at her face, noticing her reddened eyes and pale complexion, and frowned.
“You don’t look well” Concern filled Matthew’s eyes. “Zelda told me you’d gone to State Z. I thought you were planning to settle there. Why are you back in the empire?”
Physically and mentally exhausted, Rishima lacked the strength to talk to Matthew. She wasn’t used to being cared for and simply replied, “I’m fine right now. Please don’t tell Zelda you saw me tonight.”
She tried to free her hand from Matthew’s grip.
But Matthew held on tighter. Placing his other hand on her shoulder, he asked, “You look like you’re struggling. Are you in trouble? You can tell me. I can help you.”
Rishima chuckled at his words, her smile tinged with self–mockery. “Alright then, can you help me leave Zvonimir?”
Matthew froze, clearly not expecting her to say that.
“I was joking,” Rishima said casually. “Mr. Jones, thank you. Until next time.”
She turned and continued walking forward.
But before she could take more than a few steps, Matthew suddenly caught up and hugged her tightly from behind. “I will help you!
