Chapter 42
Bang!
The bedroom door was kicked open. Just as Rishima was about to climb into bed, the sudden loud noise startled her. She turned her gaze towards the door and saw Zvonimir storming into the room with a ferocious aura.
Rishima noticed his bloodshot eyes, heavy ragged breaths, and the veins bulging violently on his neck, making him look both savage and wild.
“What’s wrong with you?” Rishima instinctively sensed that something was off about Zvonimir, as if he were being provoked by some mating season frenzy.
But even if he were in heat, Zvonimir shouldn’t have come here. He should be finding a female wolf to quench his desires, shouldn’t he? Or could it be something else, something beyond just the season
This thought had barely crossed her mind when Zvonimir charged toward her with predatory aggression. Startled, Rishima instinctively retreated, trying to move away.
A sense of foreboding gripped her.
“Come here!” Zvonimir commanded, his eyes fixed on her, his voice hoarse and thick with lust.
Though Rishima tried to stay calm, the state Zvonimir was in terrified her. “Zvonimir, calm down! You’re not yourself right now…
“I know.” Zvonimir didn’t deny it; in fact, he even smiled–a smile laced with unrestrained lewdness.
Of course, he knew his body was acting strangely. The moment he left the estate, he had felt it, which was why he’d immediately ordered the driver to take him to Rishima.
He had suppressed his urges the entire way here, but his malehood felt as if it might explode.
At this point, only Rishima could help him. Zvonimir didn’t waste another moment. Transforming into his wolf form, he lunged at her, moving like a predator closing in on its prey.
Rishima was knocked onto the bed, pinned under Zvonimir’s large, muscular frame. She couldn’t move.
“Zvonimir!” Her heart raced wildly, pounding against her chest as if it might leap out. “I’m warning you, you’d better let me go, or you’ll regret it!”
“If I don’t fuck you right now, that’s when I’ll regret it!” Zvonimir growled, pressing his face close to her neck.
Rishima gritted her teeth. “You’ve left me no choice!”
The next moment, Zvonimir buried his face in her collarbone-
Thud!
A sharp object pierced his shoulder, the sudden jolt of pain dousing the lust consuming his body.
He stared at Rishima in shock, unable to believe she’d actually hurt him.
Rishima clutched the knife tightly, her face pale, her lips pressed into a thin line. Meeting his gaze, she abruptly shoved him off, causing him to collapse onto the bed.
Chapter 42
The air reeked of blood, sharp and metallic. Blood soaked Zvonimir shoulder, and the knife slipped from Rishima’s hand onto the
floor.
Zvonimir’s face darkened with anger. He glared at her, grinding out the words, “You’re ruthless!”
Rishima didn’t respond to him. Calmly, she called for an ambulance before turning to Zvonimir. “I told you, you’d regret it.”
Zvonimir sneered, seeing her composure even after stabbing him. “Have you been planning to kill me all along?”
“No,” Rishima replied, sitting on the edge of the bed. Her gaze lingered on his bleeding shoulder. She hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t bring herself to speak.
She shouldn’t care about Zvonimir. He was strong; there was no way a shoulder wound could kill him.
Zvonimir felt an inexplicable grievance when he noticed her indifference to his injury. He snarled at her furiously, “Damn it, just because you didn’t want me touching you, you stabbed me?”
Rishima pursed her lips and remained silent.
It wasn’t just to protect herself that she wouldn’t let Zvonimir touch her. She also wanted to protect the two wolf cubs growing inside her. They were her only connection to this world.
