Chapter 41
“Zvonimir, you’re teasing me again, Farah pouted, placing the cup of coffee in his hand. Then, with a shy glance, she added, “If you like, I can make coffee for you every day.”
Zvonimir chuckled and took the cup, sipping from it.
Seeing him drink the coffee, Farah’s face lit up with joy. Thinking of Zvonimir’s strong physique, her cheeks flushed, and her body grew warm. She lowered her head, avoiding his gaze, afraid he might notice her unusual behavior.
Zvonimir assumed her shyness was due to his compliment and gently said, “Be good and go back to your room to sleep.”
Farah, hoping Zvonimir would show more desire, was reluctant to leave. She quickly said, “I just want to look at you a little longer.”
No sooner had she spoken than the butler appeared, smiling. “Farah, Mrs. Ashcroft would like to see you for a chat.”
“What?” Farah hesitated, looking toward Zvonimir.
Zvonimir nodded. “You should go see my mother.”
Farah remembered Richard mentioning that the drug’s effects would manifest within half an hour, depending on Zvonimir’s physical condition. Considering Zvonimir’s strength, she thought it might take longer than thirty minutes. So, she decided to talk with Mrs. Ashcroft first.
“Zvonimir, wait for me. I’ll come find you shortly,” Farah said with a soft smile before heading to Mrs. Ashcroft’s room.
Moments later, Farah entered Mrs. Ashcroft’s room.
Mrs. Ashcroft beamed and took her hand, guiding her to sit on the sofa. Then, she placed a diamond necklace around Farah’s neck.
Farah asked in astonishment, “Mother, this is the precious heirloom necklace of the Silverfang pack. Why are you giving it to me?”
“You deserve it,” Mrs. Ashcroft said, stopping Farah from removing the necklace. “You’re about to become Zvonimir’s mate. This necklace belongs to the Luna of the pack.”
At this, Mrs. Ashcroft’s expression darkened as she mentioned Rishima. With a cold snort, she said, “I’ve always kept this necklace and never given it to anyone but you. No other she–wolf is worthy of wearing it.”
Farah knew the history of this necklace.
The day before Zvonimir and Rishima severed their mate bond, Mrs. Ashcroft claimed it was lost, prompting the entire pack to search for it. At the time, Farah had suggested that Rishima had entered Mrs. Ashcroft’s room.
Thus, Mrs. Ashcroft accused Rishima of stealing it. Though Rishima denied the accusation, it was eventually discovered that Mrs. Ashcroft had hidden it elsewhere.
The necklace, crafted from rare black diamonds, was a symbol of the Luna of the pack, valued at no less than a billion dollars.
Farah touched the necklace on her neck, feeling immense pride. She thought to herself, “Mrs. Ashcroft is right; Rishima never
deserved it.”
After leaving Mrs. Ashcroft’s room, Farah hurried to Zvonimir’s room knocking lightly on the door. “Zvonimir, are you asleep?”
The room remained silent.

Farah knocked again. “Zvonimir?”
Still no response.
“Zvonimir, I’m coming in,‘ Farah said, opening the door. Inside, the room was dark and eerily quiet. “Zvonimir?”
A minute later, she realized Zvonimir was not in the room. She rushed downstairs but couldn’t find him and quickly asked the butler, “Where did Zvonimir go?”
The butler replied, “He just stepped out. It seems there was an urgent matter at the company that required his attention.”
Farah immediately headed outside. “I’m going to find him.”
She couldn’t bear the thought of Zvonimir being overcome by the drug elsewhere. If another she–wolf took advantage of him, she’d
be furious..
The butler noticed her anxious expression and asked, “Farah, is there something urgent you need to discuss with Master?”
“It’s nothing urgent,” Farah forced a smile and hurried off. “Butler, please‘ prepare a car for me. I need to find Zvonimir.”
On the way to Ashcroft Corporation, Farah called Zvonimir several times, but he didn’t answer. Growing impatient, she urged the driver to speed up.
The drug must have taken effect; she couldn’t hold back her urgency pressing the driver to go faster.
It had to be working on Zvonimir. That’s why he wasn’t picking up.
Thinking about Zvonimir possibly being intimate with another she–wolf, Farah felt a surge of resentment toward Mrs. Ashcroft. If it weren’t for her interference, Farah would have already succeeded in seducing Zvonimir.
Half an hour later, Farah arrived at Ashcroft Corporation. The receptionist said, “Farah, Mr. Ashcroft isn’t here tonight.”
What?
Farah froze.
Zvonimir wasn’t here? Then where had he gone?
