Chapter 15
Felix hurried through the rooms in the house, and to his surprise, everything about Jade was gone.
There was no sign that she had even lived here.
His mind flashed back to a few days ago, when he had seen her clearing and packing things, he had asked her, and she said she was just getting rid of stuff.
Felix ran a hand through his hair in despair. She had already been planning to leave, she was just getting things ready, while he had been too blind to notice. But what changed? Felix asked himself. Jade had always been in love with him, she never picked offense with him, always ignoring his misdeeds. She had worshiped him blindly. So what changed?
Felix refused to believe that she had just fallen out of love for him. No, it didn’t work that way. That kind of love didn’t just fade out one day.
He racked his brain. Jade had been alright before she went for the last conference. She had even kissed him soundly before she left.
Felix tilted his head thoughtfully. That was probably the last kiss she had given him till now.
He remembered feeling cocky after she left for the conference.
“She’s never leaving,” he had told Ethan, his beta, smugly..
“She’s too devoted. She can die for me.”
Felix frowned.
That conference…
That was the turning point.
Something must have happened when she went for that conference, because she hadn’t been the same since she returned.
Jade never touched him again. She stopped looking at him the way she used
- to.
Felix thought she was just tired, maybe jealous about his closeness with Bella. He thought she would snap out of it with time.
He paced the room, deep in thought.
“Felix, can you help me unpack?” Bella asked, walking into the room.
“Hold on, I’m trying to think. Maybe later.” He mumbled distractedly, still pacing

Bella pouted in displeasure, but Felix was too lost in thought to notice.
He froze suddenly, when he remembered something else. He had called her while she was at the conference to get updates on the conference.
His heart began to race.
Felix grabbed his phone from the table, and scrolled quickly through his call logs until he found it.
Outgoing call to Jade. Duration: 4 minutes, 16 seconds.
He frowned in confusion. He didn’t even remember talking to her.
Did he call her and forget?
Where had he been when he made that call?
Felix’s eyes widened as realization struck him.
He had been with his Beta, his Gamma, and some other friends. They had been
drinking, and laughing.
They had been making jokes. Someone had brought up Jade, and Felix had laughed.
He remembered his exact words.
“That pathetic omega?”
“She’s just convenient.”
“She lives for the scraps I throw her.”
The blood drained from his face, and he paled.
He told them she would never leave, that she would believe any excuse he
gave.
“Felix,” Bella called, trying to get his attention. She had been watching him standing there with a horrified look on his face.
“Felix,” she called again louder, when he didn’t respond. “What’s going on?”
Felix lifted a hand, silently telling her to keep quiet.
His hand shook as he scrolled back to the call. Had it really connected? Had the call gone through while he was saying those things?
He hadn’t even noticed that it had connected, and that she was on the line. She must have heard everything.
Oh Moon goddess, Jade heard everything.

That was the moment she changed. Felix finally realized.
Bella tried again to get his attention. “What is it, Felix? Why do you look-”
Felix turned to her with a scowl. “Do you mind? I’m quite busy right now.” He snapped. Jade never interrupted whenever he was obviously deep in thought. Bella blinked in shock. Felix had never spoken to her like that. She sniffed, tears welling up in her eyes. “You’re still thinking about her, aren’t you?” She whispered.
That caught Felix’s attention, and he paused. “What?” He mumbled disorientated.
Bella broke into tears, causing him to panic and hurry towards her. “What is it? Are you alright? Why are you crying?”
