But she haven’t taken three steps up the stairs when she ran into a hard wall of flesh. Strong hands grabbed her wrist stopping her fall and before she could scream, she was pinned on the solid railings at the side.
“You don’t reek of alcohol or cigarettes. What kind of reunion party did you attend?”
Sebastian’s deep voice rang through Adora’s ears and was startled by the sudden question, she could tell he wasn’t happy.
But she couldn’t tell him the real reason she went out, so Adora settled for the partial truth.
“I…I went to chat with Banyu.” Adora squeaked, then cleared her throat.
Sebastian could tell at a glance that she was hiding something, but he could not force the truth out of her without scaring her. So he eased the hold on her hand and hummed.
“Return home early from now on, you had me worried.”
Adora nodded and ran up to her room before he changed his mind. She knew he haven’t bought her reply.
Sebastian was very busy for the next few days. Every day when he returned to the mansion, it was eleven o’clock in the evening. The D.E. Group seemed to be getting lots of deals that needed his attention lately.
And at the same time, the Rockefeller Corps had analysed their situation critically and did what was best for them. They finally submitted the equity transfer agreement of the 30% shares of the company. Only then did Sebastian stop suppressing them and secretly transferred the equity to the
name of his little kitten.
They might have done what was best for them, but that doesn’t mean they were happy doing it. The Rockefellers mansion was in an uproar, particularly Rose who turned her room upside down, smashing everything in her rage.
How could she not be angry? All the shares she had finally obtained from Adora were gone. Her
mother heard the commotion and went to check her.
“You know, breaking the furnitures won’t solve anything, Rose.” Mrs Penelope said.

“Mom, how can you be calm about this?! Is the CEO of D.E Group really that powerful? Is there any
reason for us to submit to his will?”
“We are losing millions honey, the company can’t keep going like this. Be sensible Rose. What’s important now is for you to seduce Hilary and conceive his child. This way, your position in the
Lynch family will be secured, you won’t have to worry about the Rockefellers Corps anymore.”
Rose seized her tantrums when she heard her mom’s word, and suddenly became nervous.
Hilary had made a slip of tongue that day, and Adora seemed to have picked up a thing from his words and became suspicious of her.
If Adora confronted Hilary about about what happened back then, her schemes would be exposed!
‘No, I need to make sure that remained a secret. It’s time I pay a visit to Adora!‘
Adora was ignorant of the storm heading her way. She went to her classes and work every day like normal, weaving between her tight schedule.
Until one night when Bella got sick and took a leave from work. Adora was done with her shift and
got off work alone. Passing through a small alley, she failed to notice the dark shadow moving along the walls under the dim light. Adora suddenly felt a chill on her back, goosebumps breaking across
her exposed skin.
“Ghosts are not real and do not exist, Adora. Don’t scare yourself.” She whispered to herself.
But the words had barely left her mouth when a burly man stepped out of the dark covering her head with a dark cloak. With a large hand muffling her screams, the man dragged Adora into a
commercial van which sped away, disappearing into the darkness of the night.
“Who are you and where are you taking me?!” Adora kicked and screamed through her gag. “I’m just a poor pitiful student now with no money to give you. The Rockefellers have cut off ties with me, you’ll just be wasting your time capturing me!”
Adora continued kicking and screaming in the silent car when no one bothered to reply her. Hopeless crept up her her heart. Sebastian wouldn’t even know that she had been kidnapped, thinking she was just spending time with her friends. If something happened to her, would he feel
sad?
The car travelled for long, and after what felt like hours to Adora, but wasn’t more than half an hour it came to a stop and Adora was dragged out of the van.

“You can take off the cloak now.” A familiar feminine voice said. Even in her sleep, Adora would be able to recognize the voice. It was Rose’s.
The black cloak covering Adora’s face was yanked harshly, and raising her head, she met with Rose’s cold eyes.
“Rose… Why am I not surprised? What exactly do you want now? You have Hilary, and you have my shares. Is that not enou“-Smack! Adora’s words where cut off by a harsh slap. Which was the first of the rains of slap that came afterwards.
What Rose hated the most was Adora’s cheekiness. She might have had Hilary’s support in the past, but she had nothing now. Rose had put up with that, she had endured her for a long time. But things have changed now.
