Chapter 15
“Be careful what you say, Max. Don’t fluster my little kitten.” Sebastian accepted her excuse and dismissed his friend.
They would have enough time to get used to each other’s presence. There’s no need to rush things. He had already decided and was determined to make Adora fall for him.
Adora looked up gratefully at Sebastian’s words.
Although this man is powerless, he always protects her carefully and considerately, making her feel
safe.
When the party ended, Sebastian escorted Adora to the guest room to change her dress. She
hesitated by the door, pinching the hem of his suit when he turned to leave.
“Do you need help getting the dress off?” Sebastian asked with one perfect brow raised.
“No… No. I mean, I was wondering where I’m going to sleep tonight. I don’t want to go back home..”
Adora felt ashamed about bringing this up, but she had no choice. She didn’t want to go back to
Rockefeller family at all.
Adora isn’t sure she can stop herself from confronting her sister, so asking Sebastian for help with the accommodation is her only other option.
A smirk replaced Sebastian’s curious expression.
“You are wearing my ring, Adora. So you are my fiancee now. As my fiancee, do you think I’ll have
you live elsewhere?” With that, he grabbed her right hand and placed a chaste kiss.
Her blushing face was breathtaking, and he couldn’t help himself.
Adora was relieved at Sebastian’s words and smiled broadly, revealing her dimpled cheek. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about a roof over her head. Gently removing her hand from his hold, she disappeared into the guest room to change.
Sebastian came down with a smile on his lips that he wasn’t aware of himself. He was intercepted
by his friend, Jules, who came to congrats him.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Sebastian asked.

“Are you really serious about her Seb?” The blonde asked over a glass of wine. He knew Sebastian well to know this is more than just an act.
“I think she is the person I’ve been finding all these years.”
“As long as she needs me, I’ll be beside her.”
“Don’t you think she would be frightened by the scar on your face? When are you going to show her
your true face?”
Sebastian’s face hardened, and he glared at his friend.
“The family issues have not been resolved yet. I don’t want to drag her into those disputes, nor do I
want her worrying about me.”
Jules didn’t say anymore when he realized that Sebastian had already made up his mind.
When Adora came down from the guest room, she was greeted with an empty hall except for
Sebastian, who had waited behind for her.
Looking at his broad back, she thought he looked lonely, but it didn’t matter. She would stay by his
side from now henceforth.
“Let’s go home,” Sebastian said gently without turning around. He had heard her steps approaching.
“Okay.” Adora nodded, and like a lost puppy, she trailed behind him to their car.
The drive was silent until the Rolls–Royce drove into Pinecrest Heights; Adora’s small mouth opened
in surprise.
“You live here? This is Pinecrest Heights!” She exclaimed in disbelief.
Pinecrest Heights is the wealthiest residential area in the entire city. Not every rich and powerful person could afford to live here.
“Just rent. We’ll stay here tonight. We can check out other places you’d like to live in.” Sebastian lied
with a smooth face.
“Oh, so that’s the case. I actually thought you bought it. It’s so shocking. Still, you’re quite amazing. You have no idea how much the Lynchs wanted a house in here. To even have it on rent is a big foot.” Adora ranted on, marveling at the pristine neighborhood.

“Does that mean you rented this Rolls–Royce too?” Adora added matter of factly.
Sebastian simply nodded, playing along. Since he chose to pretend to be the poor, underprivileged person she believed him to be, he’ll pretend to the end.
Seeing this, Adora felt terrible. The poor guy must have done this because of her. He did not want to reveal his vulnerability or inferiority to others. She could only imagine the great burden she must
have caused him.
Looking down at her lap, her eyes fell on the brown envelopes she had received earlier as gifts. She took them out and eagerly handed them over to him.
“These were all given to us by your friends. It would help if you used them to ease the bills. Since we
are engaged, we should share the money equally.”
She had already looked into the content back in the hotel room. All of them contained bank cards.
She didn’t know how much money was in these bank cards, but since she was Sebastian’s friend,
they shouldn’t hold much.
“These are gifts for you. You should keep them. Or have you started caring about me all of a
sudden?” The corners of Sebastian’s mouth twitched.
