After ending the call, Ryan’s expression turned grim.
He rubbed his temples, took a deep breath, and then headed back into the room.

Gabrielle was sitting upright on the bed, one arm hooked up to an IV, while the other casually flipped through a stack of law books. Nina stood silently at her side, keeping her company.
This scene was peaceful–but Ryan’s heart was anything but. He forced a smile, pushing the rising tension down, “Gabby, something came up at the firm. There’s a case that needs urgent attention. I have to head over right away.”
Gabrielle noticed the stiffness in Ryan’s smile and couldn’t help but ask, “Is everything okay? You don’t look so good. Want me to come with you?”
Ryan stepped forward and gently cupped her cheek. His voice was soft but steady, “It’s nothing. I can handle. You just focus on resting, I’ll be back before you know it.”
Although Gabrielle still looked unsure, but she gave him a slight nod, “Okay, just be careful and don’t stay out too late.”
“I will.” He gave her a gentle hug and kissed her forehead, the guilt tightening in his chest.
Turning to Nina, he added, “Take good care of her.”
Nina replied, nodding quickly, “Yes, sir. Don’t worry.”
Only then did Ryan leave.
As his figure disappeared through the door, Gabrielle felt a flicker of unease.
‘Was it really something at the law firm?‘ Something about him just felt–off?
Then again, he had been acting strange lately.
She gave a bitter smile. If he didn’t talk, she wasn’t going to press him. Right now, the baby mattered more than anything.
With that thought, she asked Nina to bring her something to eat, planning to have a quick bite and then try to take a nap.
Meanwhile, Ryan was tearing down the highway toward the Bellton Airport, foot pressed hard on the
gas.
Time was not on his side. If Vincent got anywhere near Gabby, everything he’d built–everything he’d protected–could unravel in an instant.
He couldn’t let that happen.
Soon, he arrived at the airport.
Just as he parked the car, his phone rang. It was Finn.

“We’ve got Vincent. He’s currently in the VIP lounge, but he’s pissed. You’d better get here fast.”
“I’m on my way. Keep him there,” Ryan ordered.
Finn dropped a pin with the location, and Ryan was off.
When Ryan pushed open the door, Vincent was pacing like a caged animal, clearly furious. A few men in black stood nearby, watching him closely,
Vincent spun around and pointed angrily at Finn, saying, “What the hell is going on? Why are you people blocking me? Who gave you the right to do this?”
“Mr. Hudson, please be patient. Our boss will be here any minute to explain everything,” Finn said carefully, trying to calm him down, with little success.
Just then, Vincent froze mid–rant–eyes locking on Ryan as he entered.
His expression changed instantly. He stood up, stunned and confused. “Uncle Ryan? What the hell- you?”
Ryan’s face was like stone as he approached, voice cold and steady, “Vincent, what are you doing in Bellton? Weren’t you supposed to be in Harborbrook.”
Vincent stared at him like it was the most obvious thing in the world, “I came to find my wife. What’s wrong with that?”
Hearing this, Ryan let out a cold laugh. “Your wife? Oh, now you remember Gabrielle is your wife? You left her to die, Vincent. You chose Claire. And now you’ve got the nerve to come looking for Gabby? How insane.”
Vincent flinched. The words hit harder than he expected. But something shifted in his expression. Suspicion crept in, “And what about you? What are you doing here?”
As the words left his mouth, the puzzle pieces started snapping into place.
He had only come to Bellton because he’d noticed Ryan making strange, frequent trips to Bellton, and it felt off. So he followed his gut and checked things out for himself–but the moment he arrived at the airport, he was intercepted.
Suddenly, something clicked in his mind. His eyes widened as realization hit like a lightning bolt. He pointed straight at Ryan, stunned, “Wait a minute–Gabby’s with you, isn’t she?”
