Chapter 177 Suggesting Termination Of Pregnancy
Ryan
Watching how much Gabby cares about the baby, I couldn’t even put it into words. It felt like someone had just stabbed me right in the chest.
That baby–wasn’t mine. It was Vincent’s.
Every time that thought hit me, it crushed me like a ton of bricks.
And if she ever got her memory back–would that baby bring her and Vincent back together?
I’ve asked myself that over and over. But no matter how many times, I never had the courage to really
face the answer.
Suddenly, Gabby grabbed my wrist, panicked. Her voice was shaky and scared, “Ryan, say something! Is baby okay?”
The look on her face–it hurt just to see it.
For a second, I was speechless. I looked into her tear–filled eyes, completely lost.
And then, Eric’s words came back to me–words he said while Gabby was unconscious.
“This is your chance. Have you decided? I can fake a medical report saying the baby has developmental issues. That way, we can suggest terminating the pregnancy.”
Eric only meant to help. He knew the baby wasn’t mine. This was his solution–to quietly erase the last link between Gabby and Vincent-
And honestly, he was a damn good doctor. He promised it wouldn’t hurt Gabby physically.
But–could I really go that cruel? If Gabby ever found out the truth, it would destroy her.
Gabby loved this baby with everything she had. If she ever found out I was behind it–she’d probably
hate me for the rest of her life.
Suddenly, she broke down. Tears streamed down her face as she held her belly and sobbed, “You dodging the question–just tell me! something’s wrong with the baby, isn’t it?”
Before I could even get a word out, she started blaming herself, “It’s me, isn’t it? I’ve been too stressed, too emotional? I wasn’t careful enough. Ryan, am I a horrible mom-? Is it all my fault–I didn’t protect
our baby-”
She was crying so hard she could barely breathe, her voice cracking apart.
Every word felt like a knife cutting straight to my chest. The pain was unbearable.
In that moment, everything became clear–I couldn’t let anything happen to this baby. I wouldn’t let her go through that kind of heartbreak again.
Not after what happened when Toby disappeared. That nearly destroyed her.
I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close, gently rubbing her back to calm her down. “Gabby, no–nothing’s wrong. The baby’s fine. Everything’s okay.”

“Really?” Gabby looked up at me with tear–filled eyes, her gaze full of helplessness.
God, my heart ached even more. I wiped her face gently and nodded softly, “Really. You’re just anxious. You need to rest. The baby’s doing great-”
Slowly, she started to settle down. Her delicate face was still tear–stained, but the tiniest smile crept onto her lips, “As long as the baby’s okay”
Seeing her smile through the tears, I finally let out a breath of relief.
But deep down, the truth still gnawed at me.
If only that baby were ours–mine and Gabby’s, What kind of life could we have had then?
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Eric walked in, holding a folder.
He came to the bed, glanced at me, and then turned to Gabby with a serious expression, “I’m sorry, sir, ma’am. We have the results. The baby-”
“Eric!” I out him off immediately, my tone firm. I gave him a quick shake of the head, hoping he’d get it.
He froze for a second. Then, thankfully, he understood and held back the rest.
Gabby’s eyes darted between us, panic creeping in again, “Wait–What’s going on with the baby? What are you hiding from me? Why won’t anyone tell me the truth?”
