Chapter 173 I Don’t Mind Being Your Mistress.
I narrowed my eyes, and stared at Summer’s face–so full of delusions and desperation. My voice was cold as ice, “You’re being absolutely ridiculous.”
She acted like she didn’t even hear me, stubbornly holding to my hand as she said slowly and clearly, “Ry, all you have to do is marry me. What’s so hard about that? You’re not going to marry Gabrielle anyway, so doesn’t marrying me make perfect sense?
“A union between the Miller and Hudson families–it’s a win–win. Everyone would be happy. Isn’t that what you want?”
I looked at her, without a trace of warmth, “No, it’s not good. And it’s not happening. I’d never marry a
woman I don’t love.”
As soon as I said it, I yanked my hand away. Without hesitation, I pulled a tissue from my pocket and carefully wiped where she had touched me, like I needed to clean off something dirty.
Summer’s face turned red with humiliation, fury burning in her eyes. Her lips parted like she wanted to scream–but swallowed it back.
Then, just as quickly, she pasted on a fake smile and stepped up beside me, her voice turning sultry, “Fine. We don’t have to get married. I don’t care that much about the title. As long as I can be with you,
I don’t mind–being your mistress.“9
As she spoke, she slid her hand onto my shoulder, her eyes full of flirtation. Leaned close to my ear, she whispered with a soft smile, “Come with me to the hotel tonight, Ry. I promise you won’t regret it-”
Her red lips were about to brush mu
ear when I suddenly stood up.
Thrown off balance, Summer stumbled and fell to the floor with a thud. Her dress was a mess–she looked pathetic and ridiculous all at once.
I looked down at her with zero sympathy and said, “Summer, I’ve told you. I’m not interested. Have a little self–respect.”
She sat there, stunned for several seconds, then suddenly started pounding the ground like a lunatic, “Ryan! How can you treat me like this? How can you crush my dignity like it’s nothing?”
My expression didn’t change. “The more you act like this, the more you humiliate yourself.”
Summer snapped her head up, her face twisted with rage. “Aren’t you scared I’ll spill your secrets? Aren’t you scared Gabrielle will find out the truth? That she’ll hate you?”
There was a warning in my eyes now. My voice turned sharp, “Go ahead and try, Summer. If you pull anything, I swear you’ll be finished in Bellton. Not even the Miller family will be able to save you.”
She froze, her lips trembling. “Ryan, you’re threatening me? You’d really do this–for Gabrielle?”
“You started this,” I said coldly. “You made the first move. Don’t blame me for finishing it.” Tears welled up in her eyes, her whole body shaking, “You’d do anything for her, wouldn’t you? After all these years, after everything we’ve been through–what the hell does she have that I don’t?”
I stood there, my gaze like frost, “Summer, real love isn’t about time. I never loved you. Not before. Not

I got into the car, gripping the steering wheel tightly
The conversation had gone completely off the rails.
I never meant for things to get this far with Summer, but she kept pushing, again and again–trying to destroy everything I had with Gabby.
No matter what, Gabby’s the only one I care about. I’d never choose Summer. Not in a million years.
And now, Summer is the biggest threat.
If she exposes the truth, I could lose Gabby.
So how do I get rid of her?
