Chapter 159 Tampering with the Paternity Report
Mang
Summer’s heart pounded violently, her blood rushing in reverse. Her body refused to accept what her eyes were reading.
How could this be happening? What the hell had gone down between them?
Had Ryan really been with Gabrielle?
The thought clawed at her mind, nearly driving her insane.
Ryan, the man she’d been obsessing over had already fathered a child with Gabrielle? They were that close?
Her fingers shook as a thousand screaming thoughts battled for space in her head.
Then, like a lightning strike, a darker thought crashed through the noise.
If Ryan saw this report, would he marry Gabrielle for the baby’s sake?
No. Absolutely not.
She wouldn’t let that happen. She would never let Gabrielle take her place.
Summer drew in a long, shaky breath, forcing herself into calm. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number with a trembling finger.
The line picked up instantly.
A composed male voice answered, “Ms. Miller, what can I do for you?”
Summer scanned the room, making sure she was alone, then lowered her voice. “I just sent you a file. You have five minutes. I want the results in that report changed. I don’t need to tell you how, do I?”
As she spoke, she sent the file though.
There was a moment of silence on the other end before the man replied, surprised, “Ms. Miller, you want me to alter a paternity report?”
She rolled her eyes. “Cut the crap. Can you do it or not?”
“Of course I can,” he replied with a soft chuckle. “But this is fraud we’re talking about. And judging from this file, it involves Mr. Hudson. If he finds out, the consequences could be serious.”
Summer let out a cold laugh. “Consequences? As long as you don’t screw it up, what consequences could there possibly be?”
She didn’t care. As long as she could stop Ryan from being with Gabrielle, she’d do whatever it took.
“Understood,” the man said, his voice low. “I’ll get back to you in five minutes.”
Summer began to pace, her heartbeat erratic. Her hands fidgeted at the hem of her shirt, her eyes constantly flicking to the door.
She had to finish this before someone walked in.
Every second stretched like an eternity.

Finally, buzz.
Her phone lit up.

Summer opened the message instantly. The revised file was attached, seamless, clean, untouchable.
A victorious smirk curled on her lips. A gleam of satisfaction flickered in her eyes.
Now, as long as the original never resurfaced, the truth would stay buried.
She replaced the original report on the computer with the altered one, her hands swift and efficient. After double–checking that every file path and line of data, she finally exhaled.
Then, footsteps.
Muffled voices echoed from the hallway, approaching fast.
Summer froze.
No time to think.
She silently crept to the door, eased it open, and slipped into the shadows of the corridor. Crouching low, she waited, heart hammering against her ribs.
Once she was sure no one had noticed her, Summer crouched low and quickly snuck out of the area, retracing her steps back to the living room.
She downed several glasses of water, wiping her forehead as she finally started to calm down.
Her body trembled from the adrenaline.
That had been too close. If anyone had caught her…
No. She shook her head. She couldn’t afford fear now.
But what Summer truly expected was that her biggest rival would be Gabrielle, that quiet, plain, forgettable little housewife no one ever noticed.
Maybe she’d gone about it the wrong way, confronting Gabrielle directly, trying to scare her off.
What she should’ve done was to go straight to Vincent.
If Vincent took Gabrielle away, dragged her out of Ryan’s life, then Ryan would be hers.
The thought planted itself in her heart, and a plan slowly began to take shape.
Meanwhile, in the Bathroom
Steam drifted lazily through the air. Gabrielle lay nestled against Ryan’s chest, her cheeks tinged with pink, lips slightly parted in bliss.
“That Summer… is she still waiting for you?” Her voice was languid, teasing.
Ryan chuckled, lifting her chin with two fingers. “Why are you bringing her up? The only person I want to be with is you.”
Gabrielle gave him a playful glare, nudging his chest. “She was your fiancée, remember? Aren’t you

being a bit too cold?”
He raised an eyebrow, eyes glinting. “What, are you jealous?”
Gabrielle huffed. “Of course not.”

He pulled her back into his arms, kissing the tip of her nose. “You’re the only one in my heart. No one
else matters.”
Gabrielle’s heart fluttered, but she still pushed him gently. “Alright, alright. Go see her already. Find out what she wants so badly. I’m gonna rest for a bit.”
Ryan groaned dramatically. “Fine, only because you said so.”
He climbed out of the tub and dried off, dragging his feet with every step like a moody child. After slipping into his clothes, he leaned over to kiss her, once, twice, three times.
Only then did he finally leave, the door clicking shut behind him.
Gabrielle curled up on the bed, her skin still warm, a soft, contented smile on her lips.
For once… she truly felt happy.
