Chapter 137 Vincent Decides To Go To Bellton
Claire’s eyes burned with frustration and anger. Her voice trembled as she spoke,
“Vince, you’ve changed–completely changed-
Tears spilled down her cheeks, falling in heavy drops.
“You’re not as gentle as you used to be-”
Her tears landed on the back of my hand. I frowned, irritated, and pulled away.
“Claire, if that’s all you came here to say, then you can leave.”

Claire bit her lip, her expression full of grievance. She sniffled, trying to hold back more tears.
“No, I came today for something important.”
“What is it?” I sighed impatiently.
She hesitated, then gently placed a hand over her stomach. Her voice was cautious,
“The baby is growing day by day, Vince. When are we getting married?”
My frown deepened.
“Are you trying to use the baby to force me into marriage?” My tone dropped, Ice–cold.
Claire panicked and grabbed my hand, pressing it against her stomach.
“Vince, this baby is yours! You promised me we would get married!”
to discuss
Yes, I did say that before for the baby’s sake. But now, with Gabby missing–I didn’t want to
this at all.
“We’ll talk about it when Gabby comes back.” I pulled my hand away from her stomach, my voice firm.
“But-“Claire’s expression stiffened, a flicker of panic in her eyes.
I continued,
“Besides, Gabby and I are still legally married. We never finalized the divorce.”
Her entire expression changed, her voice turning sharp.
“All you have to do is announce the truth–that Gabrielle is dead. Then your marriage won’t mean anything!”
She looked desperate, like she couldn’t wait for the whole world to know that Gabby was gone.
I slammed my palm against the desk.
“Claire! Gabby is still alive!”
She won’t die! I won’t let her to die!
“Are you crazy?!” Claire’s eyes widened in shock, her voice shrill.
“It’s been so long! If she were alive, she would’ve come back by now! Are you still lying to yourself?”

For a moment, she was stunned into silence. But then, as if something snapped, she suddenly screamed at me, “You still love her, don’t you? Do you not want to marry me at all?”
I let out a dry, humorless laugh, my tone faced with sarcasm
“Love her? Even if I wanted to start over with Gabby–Claire, do you think Gabby would ever want to come back to me?”
She once loved me so much. And I hurt her again and again. If she is really alive-
Would she forgive me? Would she ever love me again?
Claire’s face twisted in fury. Her voice shook as she screamed, “So you really have changed your mind?”
Her tears fell again, but this time, I felt nothing
“Claire, stop making a scene.” I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm.
“When I find Gabby, I’ll talk to her first. Then, we can discuss marriage.”
Claire finally stopped. Her shoulders trembled as she stared at me, as if she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Then slowly, she walked up and wrapped her arms around my waist, pressing her face against my chest.
“Vince, I really love you-
She sobbed softly, her body shaking, but I felt nothing.
In the past, her tears could soften my heart. But now, I only felt tired
I gently pushed her away, my tone indifferent.
“I have work to do.”
She bit her lip, hesitating, as if she wanted to say more. But in the end, she just muttered softly,
“Alright then, I’ll head back first.”
She wiped her tears and forced a small smile.
“But remember, the baby is growing, and we can’t keep delaying our wedding.”
I didn’t answer. I only gave a faint “Mm.”
Finally, Claire left.
The office fell silent, but I couldn’t calm down at all. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. Then, almost on instinct, I reached for my phone and opened my photo album..
It was filled with pictures of Gabby.
Her smile, her eyes, the way she moved–everything about her was mesmerizing.
She looked so vibrant and full of life in these photos–how could she possibly be dead?
As I scrolled through my phone, my mind racing.
Ryan had gone to Bellton, and he was being way too secretive about it. I couldn’t track his movements

at all.
Maybe I needed to go to Bellton myself. Maybe that’s where I could find some clues about Gabby.
Without hesitation, I grabbed my phone and dialed Luke’s number.
“Get ready,” I ordered. “We’re going to Bellton. I need to find out what Ryan is hiding.”
