Michael was quick with an excuse.
“Sarah, I’m traveling for an important business deal.”
‘It’s a big one for the company.”
“Sarah, I know you’ll miss me, so take care of yourself.”
“Sarah, I told Jake to look after you. Call him if you need anything.”
“When I get back, I’ll bring you home.”
I stared blankly at my business proposal.
My mind drifted back to our seventh anniversary.
That day, Michael had called me just like this.
First, he said he had a critical meeting–told me to wait two hours.
Then, after two hours, he said he had to leave town.
So, I spent the whole afternoon shopping alone, then headed downstairs to my dentist appointment.

She was half–exposed, lips pressed to his jaw, eyes smoldering with desire.
The background?
A luxury hot spring resort.
No wonder he couldn’t get enough of her.

Compared to me–a woman who barely left her house–she must’ve been so much more exciting.

I picked up.
