Michael took my silence as a good sign.
He thought I was forgiving him.
Back home, he started showering me with extravagant gifts and grand gestures.
Flowers, presents–every day, they showed up at my door.
So did he, knocking, waiting, trying to get a response.
After all, we had ten years together–three dating, seven married.
He knew exactly what I liked.
