Chapter 9
When Mark found his answer, he was in a daze for a long time.
He refused to accept it and continued searching before he suddenly started screaming like a lunatic.
“I didn’t know! I really didn’t! I thought that pregnant women only gave birth on their delivery dates! No one ever told me that they could give birth ahead of time!”
He called Jacob again. This time, his voice was much softer. “So long as you return Jane to me, you can set all the conditions for our future partnerships.”
Jacob just laughed and snapped, “Partnership? Who would want to work with a murderer? Also, let me tell you something. Your precious girl has gone through six abortions before. Go on Twitter. It’s the most trending tag.”
Mark was momentarily stunned. I did not know what was on his mind.
Right then, Rachel ran upstairs.
“Mark, those people online are spreading rumors about me! You have to stop them!”
Mark scowled and clicked on the tag.
Practically all the heirs of the huge corporations in Atilla City had gathered together and testified that while Rachel was dating Mark, she was pregnant with their babies and aborted all of them.
Among them were some of Mark’s good friends.
Mark stared at the trending tag for a long time before he demanded, “You can’t get pregnant because you went through six abortions before, right?”
Rachel’s face turned pale. Then, as if Mark had touched a sore spot, she screeched, “You believe them instead of me?! Is this how you show your love for me?!”
Mark scoffed. “You’ve always been sickly. I suggested taking you to the hospital, but you refused. Jacob told me long ago that something was off about you, but I still chose to believe you instead of him!”
He called for his bodyguards to lock Rachel up.
As he stared at my body silently, he used a clean cloth to wipe away the blood on my face.
He called out my name repeatedly, but no one answered.
In the end, Mark could no longer hold back his sadness. He fell to the floor and covered his

eyes in anguish.
“Jane’s dead… I killed her…
“I’ll pay for your life… Jane, just wait for me…”
I watched coldly, but my resentment grew.
Pay for my life? That was three lives added together! How was he going to pay for all of them?
As my resentment grew, I could sense my soul gaining power.
I focused and picked up an old guitar in the attic before slamming it at Mark.
He crashed to the floor before scrambling up quickly. He was delighted. “Jane, you’re back, aren’t you?!”
I did not bother answering. I just lifted the guitar and slammed it against him until he started bleeding.
But Mark remained kneeling submissively and let me hit him.
His face was covered in blood, and he looked like he had lost his mind. In the end, he
trembled and hung his head low.
One week later, Rachel and Mark disappeared amid all the hatred.
Many people believed that they had fled to another country because they had committed
murder.
But the truth was that Mark had sent Rachel to Mirany, a country full of violence, fraud and lust.
As for him, he took my corpse with him and took the exploration route we first took together.
When he arrived at the foot of the mountain, a staff member stopped him.
“The mountain is closed down due to a blizzard. There’s a risk of an avalanche happening at any moment.”
Just like that time when Mark was stopped from searching for me when he had a fever, he
still chose to avoid detection and sneaked into the mountain.
He went to that same run–down hut. The wind and snow had practically frozen him.
“I’ve come for you, Jane.”
He faced the snow that was rolling toward him in waves and took a deep breath before he

shut his eyes.
The avalanche buried the hut and formed a mountain of snow.
From a distance, it looked like Mark’s grave.
