Chapter 113 Ryan, I Want To Go To Harborbrook
Ryan froze for a moment, his expression shifting slightly.
But he quickly pulled himself together, his voice calm and steady, “Vincent is my nephew–the son of my elder brother, Daniel.”
I frowned. ‘Vincent is his nephew? If they were only uncle and nephew, then why did he react so strongly when I mentioned his name?‘
Ryan continued, “Vincent and your sister, Claire, used to be a couple.”
The moment he said that, an image suddenly flashed through my
mind.
Claire and a man were holding each other tightly, while I stood not far away, watching them. My chest ached, my eyes filled with despair.
A sharp pain stabbed through me. This scene–had it actually happened before?
I couldn’t help but clench my fists. My fingertips trembled slightly, and
my heart beat so fast it felt hard to breathe.
Why–why did that memory suddenly appear in my mind? And why did
it leave me so hollow, so devastated?
I forced myself to suppress the sudden surge of emotions, shoving aside the strange feeling. I tried to keep my tone as calm as possible.
“Did I have any connection with Vincent?”

Ryan hesitated for a moment, avoiding my gaze. Then, he finally said,
“Not really.”
“You are my wife. So in terms of seniority, that makes you Vincent’s
elder, and that’s all.”
‘That’s all? Then why couldn’t he look me in the eyes when he said it? Was he afraid of something?‘
I nodded absently, but the unease in my chest only grew stronger.
“What’s wrong?” Ryan must’ve noticed my mood shift because his
voice softened.
Lowering my head, I absentmindedly rubbed the hem of my shirt with
my fingers, my thoughts sinking deeper, “I don’t know why, but I just
feel like I’ve forgotten something very important. Important people. Important moments.”
Ryan reached over, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind my
ear. His fingertips brushed against my skin, sending a strange shiver
through me.
“Don’t force yourself,” he said, his voice unbelievably gentle, almost
hypnotic. “Let it happen naturally. It’ll come back when it’s time.”
My heart trembled, and my breathing hitched.
I swallowed and cleared my throat lightly, changing the subject, “Then, how did I fall into the sea? Was I kidnapped?”

For a split second, Ryan’s expression flickered with surprise. “Did you -overhear my phone call just now?”
I met his gaze head–on, “Yeah, I heard parts of it. Can you tell me the
truth?”
I hesitated before adding, “And–who is Toby?”
The name “Toby” hit me harder than Vincent’s–a deep, unsettling
wave of emotion crashed over me!
Ryan raised his hand and rubbed his forehead, as if debating how much to say. After a long pause, he finally spoke slowly.
“Gabby, I’m still looking into the people who kidnapped you. Once I have answers, you’ll be the first to know.”
I nodded, though the doubt inside me didn’t fade.
Considering how powerful the Hudson family was, my kidnapping was probably for ransom. That made sense–right?
Ryan continued, “As for Toby–he is Vincent’s son.”
My heart jolted violently, like an electric shock straight to my brain.
“He was kidnapped too,” Ryan sighed. “And now, he’s missing.”
My grip on my shirt tightened as an indescribable feeling welled up
inside me.
Vincent–Toby–What exactly was my connection to them?

Why did my chest feel so tight? Why did it feel like I couldn’t breathe?
But Ryan had already told me everything he was willing to say. If I kept pressing, I probably wouldn’t get any answers.
As if sensing my thoughts, Ryan’s voice softened. “Let’s have
breakfast.”
I nodded and followed him to the dining room.
Throughout breakfast, Ryan was as attentive as ever.
He reminded me to eat light, carefully placing food on my plate. Every
detail–down to the smallest thing–was taken care of.
If I didn’t know better, I might have believed that we were a happily
married couple, deeply in love for years.
Unfortunately–my instincts told me that things weren’t as simple as
they seemed.
Just as we were about to finish eating, I suddenly set down my
fork
and looked him straight in the eye.
“Ryan, I want to go to Harborbrook.” My voice was firm.
