Ryan’s expression shifted slightly. He frowned and asked, “Why do you suddenly want to see our marriage certificate? Are you doubting me?”
I bit my lip uneasily, my voice dropping to a whisper. “It’s not that I think you’re lying–It’s just that this whole thing feels too unreal.”
Lowering my head, I murmured, “The you I remember–was someone way out of my league. How could I possibly be married to you?”
He was Ryan Hudson-
The man at the pinnacle of success, the one every woman fantasized
about-
And me? I was just an ordinary girl, someone who barely had the chance to exchange a few words with him during college.
We were like two parallel lines, never meant to cross.
How did we end up together? Did he–really love me?
Ryan let out a soft chuckle, his voice warm yet firm. “Gabby, we love
each other. Why wouldn’t we be married?”
I coughed awkwardly. ‘Love?‘
Avoiding his gaze, I hesitated before asking, “When you say love–what do you mean?”

The next second, Ryan suddenly stepped closer, pressing me against
the wall.
His arms came up, caging me in effortlessly.
His warm breath brushed against my ear, his voice low and teasing.
“Love means–I love you, and you love me.”
Before I could react, he lowered his head–and kissed the curve of my
ear.
A jolt of electricity shot through me. My brain short–circuited.
The spot he kissed tingled with warmth, sending an involuntary shiver
down my spine. My legs felt weak beneath me.
This man–he’s dangerous.
And then–before I could even process what had happened–Ryan
scooped me up into his arms.
“Ah!” I gasped, instinctively wrapping my arms around his neck. “What are you doing?! Put me down!”
He chuckled, his tone filled with amusement. “You’re hurt. And you’re
pregnant. You need to be careful.”
Flustered, I protested, “I’m not that fragile!”
Ryan raised an eyebrow, his pace steady as he carried me. “So? Can’t a husband carry his own wife?”

I turned my head away in embarrassment, refusing to argue further.
He carried me all the way to the dining room, and I could feel the
curious gazes of the household staff around us.
Pressing my lips together, I looked up at the ridiculously handsome
man in front of me.
Even now, it still felt unreal.
‘Was this man—really my husband?‘

At the dining table, Ryan took care of me as if it were second nature.
One moment, he was handing me a steaming bowl of mushroom soup; the next, he was patiently peeling shrimp and placing them into my bowl.
“Your body is still recovering. You need to be mindful of your diet.” His
tone was so natural, as if this kind of care and attention between us
was something we had always been used to.
I stared at the food he placed in front of me, a strange warmth rising
in my chest.
He’s really good to me.
If we weren’t really married, why would he treat me this way?
I lowered my head and took a sip of the soup. Slowly, doubt began to

Maybe we really are married? Maybe everything he’s saying is true?
After we finished eating, Ryan casually picked up a napkin and gently
wiped the corner of my lips.
His eyes were so tender, so full of warmth, that it was impossible not
to get lost in them.
“Gabby,” he murmured, “I know this is a lot to take in.

He paused for a moment, his voice soft but steady.
But no matter what happens, I’ll be here for you. I’ll be your strongest
support.”
My heart trembled slightly. This man–is impossible to resist.
His gentleness made me want to let go, to trust in every word he said.
Seeing that I remained silent, Ryan chuckled softly, his gaze deep and
unreadable.
“If you’re not ready to accept me as your husband yet, we can take
things slow. We can just be friends for now.”
A lump formed in my throat, and a wave of emotion surged through
- me.
He wasn’t forcing me to accept this marriage. Instead, he was giving me time, patiently staying by my side as I adjusted to everything.
