Eric stood frozen for a long time, his gaze resting on my face, filled
with a mix of emotions.
After a brief silence, he finally spoke in a measured tone, “There’s no
way to predict when your memory will return. Your case is quite
unique–your amnesia could be from the head injury, or it could be
linked to psychological factors. One day, your memories might
suddenly come back, or–it could take a long time.”
He continued, “In any case, I’ll do my best to help you recover.”
I pressed my lips together, hesitated for a moment, then said, “Thank
you, doctor.”
I decided to push further, “Do you know what happened before I lost
my memory? Ryan and I–are we really married?”
Eric’s expression flickered for a split second before he nodded, his
tone calm and even, “Of course. Mr. Hudson and you have always
been deeply in love. As for what happened before your amnesia–I’m just a doctor. I wouldn’t know the details of your personal life.” His
voice remained neutral. “If you have any doubts, you should ask Mr. Hudson directly.”
I studied him carefully, feeling as though he was holding something
back.
‘Was he deliberately avoiding certain questions?‘

But pressing him further might not get me any real answers.

I let out a quiet sigh and nodded. “Alright. Thank you for your help.”
Eric gave a small nod before turning and walking away.
Even after he left, I couldn’t calm down.
None of this felt real.
It was as if I had woken up in a world I didn’t recognize, and now
everyone was telling me-
I was Ryan Hudson’s wife.
I was pregnant.
My entire family was gone.
But I couldn’t bring myself to accept all of it.
I sat on the bed, lost in thought for what felt like forever. No matter
how much I tried to push it away, the uncertainty gnawed at me. I had
to know the truth.
Determined, I called Nina over and asked to borrow her phone.
She didn’t ask any questions and simply handed it to me.
Gripping the phone tightly, my fingers trembled as I dialed the number
I’d known by heart my whole life for my family.

My heart pounded faster by each passing second, but soon, a cold,
mechanical voice filled my ears-
“The number you have dialed is no longer in service.”
No longer in service? How was that possible?
Did this mean–my entire family was really gone?
My hand went limp, the phone slipping from my grasp as tears blurred
my vision.
My father had passed away years ago. My mother had always been distant, and my sister had never been particularly warm to me–but
they were still my family.
And my grandmother–she had been the most important person in my life, my greatest source of comfort.
If she was truly gone–then what was left for me?
A crushing sense of loneliness wrapped around me like a suffocating
fog. Curling up on the bed, I hugged my knees, trying to keep myself
from falling apart.
I had no one left.
Just as I was drowning in sorrow, the door suddenly swung open.
Ryan stepped inside, his brows slightly furrowed. He seemed to have

noticed my sadness, but his voice remained gentle.
“Gabby, are you hungry? Let me take you to eat something.”
I slowly lifted my head and looked at him.

He was always so calm, exuding a quiet strength that made people
feel at ease.
Suppressing the ache in my heart, I nodded. “Okay.”
I grabbed the first outfit I could find, changed quickly, and followed
him toward the dining room.
But just as I reached his side, he suddenly took my hand–interlocking
our fingers effortlessly.
The movement was so natural, so practiced, as if he had done it
countless times before.
I froze, my eyes widening in shock as I instinctively looked up at him.
His palm was warm and dry, the heat from his fingertips seeping into
my skin. My heart skipped a beat, then started pounding
uncontrollably.
‘Why was my face burning? Did I just–feel something for him?‘
‘Why am I reacting like this? Was it just instinct? Or–had we really
been close before?‘
I opened my mouth, my voice slightly unsteady. “You–why did you

Ryan turned his head slightly, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. His tone
carried a teasing edge. “What? Not used to it?”
My breathe hitched. My ears instantly felt like they were on fire. “N–not
exactly-”
His voice remained calm and casual. “We’re married. Isn’t it normal for
me to hold your hand?”
I fell into silence.
The problem was–I didn’t remember getting married at all!
Feeling awkward, I bit my lip, my heartbeat racing so fast it left me
flustered. Finally, I whispered, “I know there’s nothing wrong with a
married couple holding hands–but it’s just hard for me to believe that
I actually married you.”
Taking a deep breath, I gathered my courage and looked him straight
in the eye.
“Can you show me our marriage certificate?”
