Chapter 21
Louie woke up early in the morning to hear some good news.
The wedding invitation from Matthew was now in hand.
Louie flipped through it–pure gold, with a whole sapphire embedded inside.
“The wedding invitation came so easily, looks like the Curtis family isn’t as mysterious as people say.”
“The Curtis family is quite strange though, the invitation only has the groom’s name, no mention of the bride.”
But Louie didn’t care who the bride was; she was just some aristocratic young lady.
He turned to his assistant. “Is everything ready?”
The assistant nodded.
“Heh, the wedding of the heir of Curtis family is sure to attract the media. Once the scandal breaks, I’ll see how he dares to keep pursuing Celia.”
In a private room.
Thalia quickly straightened herself and flashed the sweetest smile she could muster.
She leaned forward, her cleavage partly exposed.
“Mr. Curtis, are you the one who saved me? Should I repay you with my body?”
The secretary swiftly grabbed her by the collar and pulled her to the side.
Matthew sat down, his voice lazy as he spoke.
“You… are you even worthy?”

pale.
Though she might not compare to Celia’s beauty, she was still sweet and attractive enough.
How could she be treated so disdainfully in Matthew’s eyes?
She sat back down at the table, “Speak, what do you want me to do?”
Matthew promised her five million in exchange for her taking Jenna away from the orphanage and starting a new life far away.
“Who’s Jenna’s biological father?”
Matthew wanted to use Thalia, an unstable pawn, to deal with Louie, and he had to hold something against her.
Who knew this crazy woman would do anything.
Thalia pursed her lips, refusing to answer.
Matthew wasn’t in a hurry. “Secretary, take Miss Collins back.”
“Back” didn’t mean to the San Francisco, but to Louie’s underground basement.
Thalia had been locked up for seven days, surviving on dog food and occasionally being beaten by Louie.
She never wanted to return to that hellish basement again.
“Wait! I’ll talk!” she cried out.
When she first arrived overseas, she had lived with a host family where the female head of the
house was harsh.
“In order to get back at that nasty woman, I seduced her husband. That night, he came into my
room…”
Thalia spoke, her voice trembling as she began to cry.
“I regret it now, and I’m afraid. After they kicked me out, I had nowhere to go, so I lied to Louie, telling him I was pregnant with his child.”

Louie, pitying his old lover, married her out of compassion.
Thanks to the marriage certificate, Thalia was able to find her footing.
“So why did you come back to the country?” Matthew asked.
“I heard Louie had became wealthy. I wanted to become the legitimate Mrs. Morris.”
Matthew nodded. Thalia’s story seemed largely truthful, matching what his secretary had found.
The secretary checked his watch and reminded Matthew, “It’s almost time for the wedding dress fitting. You should get going.”
Matthew stood up and buttoned his suit.
As he reached the door, Thalia suddenly asked, “Your bride is Celia, right?”
Before Matthew could answer, Thalia continued.
“Celia really is lucky. Louie is trying to kill me for her, and you don’t even care that she’s already
married.”
Matthew didn’t look back. “It’s not that Celia is lucky. She’s simply a person worthy of being loved.”
“To marry her is my fortune.”
With those words, Matthew left the room without looking back.
Thalia lowered her head, continue numbly stuffing food into her mouth. “It feels so good to be full,
really good.”
Her voice choked with sobs, and tears streamed down her face.
Celia walked out of the fitting room, dressed in a mermaid–style wedding gown. She immediately spotted Matthew leaning on the sofa.
“I told the secretary, if you’re busy, you don’t have to come. I can handle it myself.”
Celia said this sincerely. When she arranged her wedding with Louie, it was during his career peak.

“Celia, you can choose the wedding dress yourself, I have an important client tonight.”
“Celia, go book the hotel venue, I have a dinner party.”
“Celia, just pick a wedding ring, we’ll have it customized when we have money later.”
So, that rushed and simple wedding was entirely organized by Celia from start to finish.
Louie had only attended the wedding on the day of, and even before the host could say a word, he turned their ceremony into a networking event to expand his connections and promote his company, leaving Celia standing aside, starving while he mingled and drank.
