Chapter 18
Louie locked Thalia in the basement for three whole days without giving her food or water.
On the fourth morning, he had the door to the basement opened.
A foul stench of urine and feces wafted out.
Louie covered his nose and mouth. “Do you still want to go and get the divorce now?”
Thalia, with her hair in disarray, weakly propped herself up, her eyes burning with madness.
“Louie, let me out, I’ll listen to everything you say.”
Louie took a handful of dog food from his assistant and scattered it on the ground.
“Eat all of this, and I’ll let you go.”
Thalia scrambled to pick up the dog food, stuffing it into her mouth.
The assistant stood by recording the scene on his phone.
“Save this. I’ll show it to Celia in person how I’m teaching this bitch a lesson.”
He stepped on Thalia’s hand, making her wince in pain.
“Is this how dogs eat dog food? No hands!”
Thalia crawled on the ground, crying out in despair as she choked on the dry dog food, unable to
chew it.
Louie dragged the disheveled Thalia to the County Clerk’s Office to process the divorce.
He handed over their marriage certificate and SSN.
“Hello, please divorce us.”
The staff was shocked and turned to Thalia, asking, “Ma’am, do you need help?”

Thalia, terrified of being beaten, quickly shook her head.
“No, no need. Please process the divorce quickly.”
The staff worked fast, but Louie had forgotten about the mandatory one–month cooling off period.
“What? A month? I don’t need a cooling–off period! I want to divorce her right now!”
The staff patiently explained that it was required by law.
The assistant quickly grabbed Louie, trying to calm him down. “Mr. Morris, finding madam is the most important thing. If you get arrested for causing a disturbance, you won’t be able to look for her.”
Only then did Louie stop, his fist clenched but lowered.
He angrily dragged Thalia back to the bodyguards.
“Lock her back in the basement, give her some water and dog food, and don’t let her die.”
With that, he turned and left, leaving Thalia crouching on the ground, howling.
Someone recorded the scene and posted it online, sparking ridicule from netizens.
“That crazy guy in the video is Louie? I saw him just a few days ago on TV receiving the Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award.”
“Only after his wife left did he finally wake up, abusing his mistress… Who is he trying to impress?”
“Morris Group doesn’t deserve to be in power. We, the shareholders, should vote him out!”
That evening, a large number of shareholders sold their stocks, and several key clients called to
cancel their contracts.
The assistant told Louie, but he didn’t seem to care.
“I built my empire from scratch, so a little setback means nothing.”
The assistant finally revealed the secret behind his rapid rise in the business world.
It turned out that the initial large investments that saved Morris Group came from Celia’s parents.

“Madam didn’t know. The investors have been hiding their identities. I only learned this by
accident.”
Louie was stunned.
All this time, he had believed that it was his abilities and charm that grew Morris Group from a small company with five employees to a corporation with hundreds of staff.
But the investment that had saved Morris Group from collapse had come from Celia’s parents.
“Mr. Morris, madam left, and now the Flores family has pulled out their investment. If you don’t do something soon,Morris Group is finished.”
Louie felt as though he had been struck by lightning.
At that moment, his phone rang.
The person claimed to have information about Celia and demanded five million.
The assistant whispered, “Mr. Morris, we don’t have any money left.”
But Louie didn’t care. His mind was entirely on Celia.
“Mortgage the company.”
