Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Louie rushed back to the villa and grabbed the housekeeper to inquire about Celia’s whereabouts.
“Madam left early this morning to buy fresh flowers.”
Louie felt slightly reassured.
The welcome party was indeed grand, with a giant frame hanging in the center of the venue.
Louie was about to lift the cover when the housekeeper stopped him.
“Madam asked to wait until all the guests have arrived before opening it.”
Louie withdrew his hand.
Guests slowly began arriving, and Louie greeted them, not noticing that Celia had yet to return.
The event began, and Jenna appeared on the second–floor stairs, wearing a princess dress, slowly making her way down.
Louie wore a proud father’s smile.
Clang!
The door suddenly slammed open.
Thalia, dressed in a high–end gown, appeared at the entrance.
Everyone’s eyes turned to look at her, dressed as if she were the host.
Louie’s expression shifted, and he quickly walked to Thalia’s side.
He lowered his voice, “Didn’t I tell you to keep a low profile?”
Thalia spread her hands innocently. “Isn’t this the dress your assistant gave me?”
Louie was confused but had no time to argue.

He cleared his throat. “Welcome, everyone. Now, let me introduce today’s star–Jenna Morris.”
He took Jenna’s hand and led her to the giant cake in the center.
The cutting of the cake was supposed to be done by the adoptive parents and daughter, but Celia’s
place remained empty.
Where was Celia?
“I’ll do it,” Thalia said.
She elegantly stepped forward and took the knife from the servant.
A guest voiced the confusion everyone was feeling:
“Wasn’t Mrs. Morris someone else?”
“Who is she? She sure looks like the mistress of the house.”
“Has anyone noticed how much Morris’s adopted daughter looks like this woman?”
Louie quickly interrupted. “Ahem… thank you for your offer, but I think it’s better for my wife to do
this.”
Thalia’s face changed slightly, and she gave a subtle signal to Jenna.
Jenna immediately grabbed Thalia’s hand. “Daddy, let mommy cut the cake. After all, Aunt Flores isn’t my mommy.”
The words exploded like a bomb, causing Louie’s mind to go completely blank.
Louie covered Jenna’s mouth, his face turning furious.
“Who taught you to say that? Your mommy is Celia!”
The next second, the cover behind him fell off.
A giant photo was revealed to the guests.
The photo showed Louie and Thalia, disheveled, sweating profusely.

Chapter 10
Louie’s face turned as pale as death. He rushed to the photo to try and block the provocative scene.
Guests began murmuring to each other, gossiping quietly.
But it was too late; they had already seen the two main characters in the photo.
Thalia stood frozen in place.
Louie felt his blood rush to his head, his vision blurry.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Celia’s number, but the call was unanswered.
Louie was in complete panic.
Celia had personally arranged the welcome party, so this photo of him and Thalia was also orchestrated by her?
He couldn’t even begin to imagine how Celia would react when she found out about his relationship with Thalia, and the truth about Jenna’s origins.
The guests‘ whispers turned into louder discussions, with increasingly hurtful comments:
“The Morris family still dares to call themselves an aristocratic family. Look at how their son is playing around during his marriage.”
“I always thought it was strange that Morris and his young wife decided to adopt an orphan. Turns out, it’s Morris’s illegitimate daughter.”
“I guess his real wife must have left after finding out the truth, leaving the Morris family’s mess
behind.”
