Chapter 87 No More Talk Of Divorce
Rachel’s shove caught me off guard, making me stumble backward!
Cold sweat broke out on my back as I instinctively cradled my belly, my heart pounding.
I didn’t dare imagine what could have happened to the baby if I’d fallen-

“That’s enough.” Ryan’s voice was sharp as steel as he grabbed Rachel’s wrist. “Rachel, you better
back off. Now.”
Rachel flinched at his intimidating glare, her face twisting with anger, “Let go of me!”
“Mom!” Vincent’s expression darkened as he quickly stepped in, trying to calm the situation.
Just as things were about to spiral out of control, a furious voice thundered through the hallway.
“Are you all done making a scene?” Daniel’s voice was thick with rage and frustration.
Rachel stopped struggling, momentarily stunned. Only then did Ryan let go of her with an icy glare.
We waited outside the emergency room from morning until afternoon, tension gripping us like a vice. Finally, the doors swung open.
We all rushed forward.
The doctor emerged, pulling off his mask. His brow was still furrowed, but his tone was lighter, “The patient is temporarily out of danger, but his vital signs remain unstable. We need to move him to the
ICU for further observation.”
Relief flooded my body, the crushing weight weight lifting off my chest. My nose stung, and I barely held back the tears threatening to spill.
Thank God–Grandfather had pulled through!
Inside the ICU-
My heart ached as I stood by Grandfather’s beside, watching him lie there so pale and lifeless.
After finishing the setup, the doctor gave us a stern warning, “The patient’s condition is still very fragile. Make sure he avoids any emotional distress.”
After the doctor left, an awkward silence settled over us.
Vincent, the one responsible for triggering Grandfather’s heart attack, stood stiffly, his expression
unreadable.
Daniel was the first to break the silence, his face tense, “Vincent, Gabby, from now on, neither of you is to bring up divorce. And Vincent, stay away from Claire. Your grandfather’s health comes first–he
can’t afford another shock.”
I snapped my head up, staring at him in disbelief.
They expected me to stay trapped in this marriage?
Vincent looked uncomfortable too. He hesitated before speaking in a low voice, “But–Claire–she’s pregnant. She can’t wait forever.”

Daniel’s face darkened. After a pause, he said coldly, “She’ll have to wait, fright now, Henry’s recovery is our priority.”
Vincent pressed his lips together, his hands clenching at his sides, but he didn’t argue
My stomach twisted.
No matter how hard I tried to break free, something always pulled me back. This marriage was a cage, and I was trapped inside-
Daniel exhaled sharply, “Alright, Everyone go home. Let Henry rest. We’ll call when he wakes up.”
I was exhausted, too tired to argue anymore. I simply nodded and turned to leave.
To my surprise, Ryan followed me.
“Gabby. “I stopped at his voice and turned, forcing a tired smile.
Ryan frowned slightly, his deep voice steady, “Try not to worry too much. Grandfather’s strong–hell
make it.”
I nodded slowly, my voice barely above a whisper, “But the divorce–If we keep delaying, I’m scared something will go wrong”
Ryan studied me for a moment before saying quietly, “Don’t worry. I’ve got your back.”
His words held so much confident, as if nothing in the world could shake him.
A warmth spread through me, my anxiety easing just a little.
“I’ll still go with you to Starlight Bay tomorrow,” he added. “Get some rest tonight. Try not to overthink things.”
I murmured an “okay“, my heart a little steadier.
Just then, his phone rang.
Ryan answered, listening for a moment before his expression shifted, “Got it. I’ll be right there.”
He ended the call and turned to me with an apologetic look, “Something urgent came up. I need to go.”
“Sure, go ahead,” I nodded.
He hesitated, as if wanting to say something more, but instead gave me one last look before walking away quickly.
With Grandfather in the hospital, I needed to clear my head, so I went for a walk around the neighborhood.
The night was cool and quiet, but my mind was anything but.
I barely noticed where I was going until I found myself in a secluded park.
The darkness felt eerie, the straight far and few between, casting long, wavering shadows.

drifted through the quiet night air.
