Chapter 86 The Critical Condition Notice
The moment the emergency room doors swung open, we rushed forward.
COME *****
The doctor removed his mask, his expression grim as he sighed, “The patient’s condition is critical We’ve done everything we can, but his heart could stop at any moment. We need the family to sign the critical condition notice.”
Those words hit me like a sledgehammer.
Critical condition notice-
My vision blurred as I swayed on my feet.
Vincent’s hands trembled violently, his eyes red as he bit his lip, struggling to hold the pen steady.
As he signed, his tears splattered onto the paper, leaving blurry water stains.
“Doctor–please–you have to save Grandfather-“I choked out, my voice trembling uncontrollably.
The doctor paused, then gave a solemn nod before turning back into the emergency room.
As the doors shut once again, Grandfather’s fate hung in the balance.
I stood frozen, my emotions finally crumbled.
Tears streamed down my face as I covered my mouth, trying to muffle my sobs.
Just then, a tissue appeared in front of me. I looked up, meeting Ryan’s steady gaze.
Standing beside me, his presence reassuring, he said softly, “It’s going to be okay.”
His voice was calm and steady, like a beacon in the darkness, giving me strength.
I pressed my lips together, took the tissue, and tried to pull myself together.
But Vincent’s bitter words cut through the moment.
“Grandfather’s fighting for his life, and here you are, getting cozy with Ryan?” His voice dripped with sarcasm, jealousy darkening his expression.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm, “Don’t push it, Vincent.”
Ryan turned his gaze to Vincent, his tone ice–cold, “Enough.”
Vincent flinched, his jaw tightening before he scoffed and looked away, finally falling silent.
The air grew heavy with tension.
Ryan frowned and asked, “Vincent, where are your parents? Why aren’t they here yet?”
Vincent looked down, anxiety creeping into his voice, “Traffic. They should be here soon.”
Minutes ticked by, thick with silence and anxiety.
Half an hour later, Vincent’s parents, Daniel and Rachel, finally arrived.
Rachel burst in, leaning against the wall as she wailed, “Oh God, my poor father–in–law! How could this happen?”

Daniel turned to Vincent, his face when, “Your father was fine–how did he witherty have a hear attack?”
Vincent hung his head, his lips pale. After a long pause, he rasped, it’s my fade-
He looked up, quilt filling his eyes, “Grandfather caught me with Claire–The shock tapered his hear
attack.”
The hallway seemed to freeze OVE
Daniel exploded instantly, “You stupid idiot! How could you be so recklessr
Vincent clenched his jaw, saying nothing.
But Rachel, instead of scolding Vincent, looked around with a frown and asked, “Where’s Calcer
Vincent’s voice was quiet, “She was shocked by what happened. She went home to rest
1 let out a bitter laugh.
Grandfather was fighting for his life, while one of the people responsible was resting comfortably at
home?
But Rachel’s next words made my blood boil.
“Look, we can’t blame Vincent and Claire for this,” she sighed heavily, her face full of resetnet. This is all because certain people kept meddling, making Henry so angry! I don’t understand why he’s always been so biased, always protecting outsiders.”
Her eyes locked onto me, clearly pushing all the blame in my direction.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Seriously? Now they’re blaming this on me?
I scoffed and was about to speak up, but Ryan stepped forward first, his voice was hard as steel, ‘My father is fighting for his life, Rachel. Maybe you should shut up.”
Rachel’s face twisted in anger, “You-”
Her face turned red as she glared at Ryan, but she didn’t dare continue.
Instead, she quickly redirected her anger at me.
“You’re nothing but bad luck!” she spat venomously. “If it weren’t for you, would Henry have gotten so upset? The Hudson family was perfectly fine until you married in. Nothing but trouble ever since!”
Before I could react, she suddenly raised her hand and shoved me hard.
“Get lost! You’re a curse!”
