Chapter 62 A “Voluntary” Divorce With Nothing
“What’s so urgent?” Claire strutted over like she’d already won,
clutching a stack of papers and arching an eyebrow at me. “Just sign
it, that’s all you’ve got to do.”
She slapped the papers onto the table in front of me.
I glanced down, my heart sinking as I realized what they were, a
divorce agreement.
“Voluntary divorce, forfeiting all assets-” I read the words aloud,
feeling a cold chill wash over me. “So this is why you lured me here?”
Mom had said Claire was in trouble, bombarding me with messages
until I came–It was all a setup. Claire was pregnant with Vincent’s
baby.
And now they were trying to force me to sign a divorce agreement that
left me with nothing–clearing the way for her.
So, Vincent’s entire fortune would go to Claire and her unborn child?
They were out of their minds.
“Claire, don’t you think you’re overstepping?” I shot her a cold glare.
“Vincent’s the one who cheated. Why should I walk away empty-
handed?”
Before, I just wanted to cut ties with Vincent and didn’t care about the
money. But after talking with Ryan and Drake Woods, I saw things

differently. Vincent was the one who messed up–why should I pay the
price?
Now that Claire was pregnant and the truth was out, there was no way
I was letting them off that easily.
“Gabrielle, didn’t you say you wanted a divorce? The agreement’s right
here, in front of you. As your sister, I’ve taken care of everything for
you. You should be thanking me.” Claire pulled out a pen and shoved it
at me. “Just sign it and stop wasting everyone’s time.”
I took the pen from her hand–and slammed it onto the floor as hard
as I could.
The pen shattered, ink splattering everywhere.
“You!” Claire’s smug façade crumbled, her expression twisting with rage. “Gabrielle, you’ve been lying this whole time, haven’t you? You don’t want a divorce–you just want to hang onto the Hudson name
and Vincent’s money, right?”
“Who are you to accuse me?” I snapped, each word hitting its mark. “You’re nothing but the other woman. Claire, you’re carrying your sister’s husband’s baby–how does that make you feel? Proud of yourself? Your shamelessness is off the charts.”
“How–how can you say that about me?” Claire gasped, clutching her
chest as tears started streaming down her face.
She immediately shifted gears, turning into the perfect victim.
Suddenly, she grabbed her stomach, grimacing in pain.

“Claire, are you okay?” Mom rushed to support her, panicking.
“Mom, Gabrielle called me the other woman,” Claire whimpered, tears
flowing. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
“When Vincent came to see me abroad last month, what happened
between us was completely unexpected–I didn’t mean to ruin her
marriage, but now I’m pregnant. I have to think about the baby.”
“Mom, it hurts so much—” she moaned dramatically.
Watching her act made me want to throw up.
This was classic Claire–always playing the victim for sympathy.
Vincent fell for it every time, and Mom was no different.
But I wasn’t buying it.
“Give it a rest, Claire. You’re a model, not an actress.” I rolled my eyes.
“All I did was tell the truth. If you’re so innocent, why the dramatic
show?”
I tried to breathe through the toxic energy in the room, but it was
suffocating. I couldn’t take it anymore and turned to leave.
But Mom wasn’t done. She blocked my path, shoving me back toward
the table, “Get another pen,” she ordered Claire. “We’re not leaving until
she signs.”
