Chapter 48 The Abortion
That thought hit me out of nowhere, making me shiver.
No way, right? I never saw him at the party! Besides, someone
drugged my drink that night. After I drank it, everything went hazy, and I couldn’t remember what happened next.
From start to finish, I never saw that guys’s face clearly! All I could vaguely remember was being with a man–embracing, kissing, getting
closer and closer. And then-
I bit my lip, closed my eyes, unwilling to let the memories come
rushing back. ‘Forget it. Just forget it all. Let’s chalk it up to an accident that never happened.‘
To this day, I still don’t know who drugged me and why. But that
embarrassing memory still stung like a thorn in my heart.
I used to love Vincent with everything I had, never thinking about being
with any other man. But then this accident happened.
Even though I was drugged and completely out of control, I still
couldn’t accept it!
I rubbed my temples in frustration, stood up, and quickly got ready-
washed up, changed clothes–and rushed to the hospital.
On the way, I got a call from Sylvia.
“Sweetie, I’m on my way to the hospital now. Let’s meet there. But are

you sure about this? Won’t you regret terminating the pregnancy?”

“I won’t regret it,” I struggled to stay calm. “But I have an interview on
Monday, and I’m worried today’s surgery might affect me.”
“We’ll ask the doctor about that, don’t worry,” Sylvia reassured me. “Ga
bby, which law firm are you interviewing with?”
“Oracle Attorneys,” I said.
“What? Oracle Attorneys? How did you land an interview with them?”
Sylvia’s voice was full of surprise.
“Ryan gave me this interview opportunity. He’s helped me so much. I don’t even know how to repay him.”
“Repaying him is easy–just marry him!” Sylvia joked.
“Don’t joke like that. He’s engaged to some rich heiress, and I heard he really likes her,” I said, a tinge of disappointment in my voice.
“Really? That’s a shame,” Sylvia sighed. “I thought he liked you, with everything he’s done for you–it’s hard not to think that way.”
“How could he possibly like me?” I forced a smile. “Anyway, I’ve got to
- go. See you soon.”
After hanging up, I looked at my chat screen with Ryan, and that intimate dream floated back into my mind.
‘Stop thinking about it!‘ I shook my head.

As soon as she saw me, she rushed over and gave me a hug, “Gabby, I
know it must be hard to let go of this baby, but I believe you’re making
the right decision. If you’re divorcing Vincent, it’s better to cut ties
cleanly!”
“Yes!” I nodded firmly. Since I had made an appointment, I just needed
to register and see the doctor. However, the doctor ordered a series of
tests first, saying they needed to check my health before deciding if
the surgery could go ahead.
After the tests, I returned to the consultation room with my results.
“Doctor, if I go through the surgery today, will I be able to resume
normal activities by next Monday? I have an interview then,” I asked,
feeling nervous.
“Usually, yes,” the doctor replied, reviewing my test results. “Look here, the fetus is developing well. We can already see the heartbeat and
embryo-”
He pointed to a shadow on the ultrasound report, “This is your baby.”
I couldn’t help but glance at the screen, my hand instinctively moving
to my belly.
A bitter smile tugged at my lips, “But I’m getting divorced. I can’t keep
this baby.”
