Chapter 40 Are You Insisting On Divorce Because Of Ryan?
I quickly got up, got ready, and took a taxi to the hospital.
During the ride, I couldn’t help out but feel embarrassed thinking about
that dream. ‘Damn, it must be because I saw his body while applying medicine the other day. His perfect physique must have triggered
these random fantasies.‘
I patted my warm cheeks, wondering how to act around Ryan.
Arriving at the hospital, I bought a bouquet of lilies from a nearby
stand.
Just as I reached the entrance of the inpatient department with the
flowers, I noticed several luxury cars parked around.
Henry stepped out of a black Bugatti Veyron, followed by Daniel, Rachel, and Vincent. Behind them, a group of bodyguards trailed.
I was stunned by the display. ‘Had the whole Hudson family come to pick up Ryan? Wasn’t this a bit too much?‘
Clutching my lilies, I debated whether to approach them.
While I hesitated, Henry spotted me and waved, “Gabby, come over
here!”
Reluctantly, I walked over.

As I passed Vincent, he grabbed my wrist, his voice low and tense,
“Are these flowers for Ryan?”
“What’s wrong with bringing flowers for someone being discharged?” I
countered, my tone sharp.
“Gabrielle, so this is why you’ve been so cold to me lately—you’ve
found someone new,” Vincent sneered, his face dark with anger. “Of
course, Ryan’s richer and more powerful than me. You found a better
meal ticket. No wonder you want a divorce.”
“You think I want a divorce because of Ryan?” I didn’t know whether to
laugh or cry.
How absurd! After everything he’d done, didn’t he understand I wanted
a divorce because I had completely lost hope in him? Didn’t he know
how much I used to love him?
That long–lasting love has turned to ashes now.
“If not for him, then who?” Vincent was fuming. “I’ve already explained
there’s nothing between Claire and me, but you still insist on divorcing. I don’t get why you’re being so stubborn!”
“I didn’t come here to argue with you!” I jerked my arm free and walked
toward Henry.
Vincent followed, whispering in my ear, “Gabrielle, you want a divorce to be with Ryan? Well, forget it! I’ll never agree to it. You’ll only ever call
him ‘uncle‘!”

I couldn’t believe it. ‘Was Vincent really losing it?‘ Sometimes, I
wondered if he had a split personality disorder. One moment he was acting all romantic at my doorstep, the next, he was going crazy in
front of me.
“Well, you wouldn’t want Claire to only regard you as a brother–in–law
forever, would you?” I shot back without mercy.
Seeing Vincent’s face darken, I let out a satisfied breath.
“Vincent, are you arguing with Gabby again?” Henry stepped forward, took my arm, and patted Vincent’s shoulder. “I’m warning you–don’t bully her. Be good to her, or I won’t be able to help you!”
“Grandpa, how would I dare bully her?” Vincent forced a helpless
smile.
“That’s better.” Henry snorted, then turned to me with a gentle smile. “Gabby, have you thought about what we discussed last time?”
I froze. I knew he was hopping I would change my mind and agree to
stay married with Vincent.
But I could only disappoint him.
Just as I was struggling to respond, Ryan’s voice cut in, “It’s just a hospital discharge, not a funeral. Why all the fuss?”
I instinctively looked over to see him striding toward us in a gray bespoke suit.
My gaze fixed on his flawless face, and my breath hitched. The scene from my dream suddenly flashed through my mind: Us kissing passionately, going wild…
